The Phoenix Suns are on the brink of clinching their first-round NBA playoff matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers tonight, as they currently lead the series 3-1. The Clippers caught a bad break after the first two games of the series when Kawhi Leonard was ruled out for both home games in California. Leonard’s absence essentially cost L.A. any chance of evening the series on its own court.

The Clippers now return to Phoenix for a must-win game without their two biggest stars on the floor. Both Kawhi and Paul George remain out, so Russell Westbrook and Co. need to come up with the goods when it matters the most against a Suns team whose confidence has been building throughout the series. Let’s look at some NBA picks and parlays for this crucial Game 5.

Clippers vs Suns Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under – NBA Playoffs Betting Lines 4/25

Moneyline: Clippers (+600), Suns (-900)
Spread: Clippers +12.5 (-110) , Suns -12.5 (-110)
Total: Over/Under 224.5 points

Clippers vs Suns Injury Report

The Clippers will be missing their two biggest difference-makers in this must-win road game at Phoenix. Paul George hasn’t appeared in the playoffs and has been ruled out until at least the next round – a decision made before this series began. Kawhi Leonard was on a mission to open the series, playing great basketball before his knee gave way. Leonard has struggled with injuries for several years now and has not been able to go since giving it his all in the series’ first two games.

The Suns expect to have guard Cameron Payne back for Game 5, which would put their roster at full strength. Payne has yet to play in the series due to a back injury, but was listed as probable ahead of tonight's game.

Clippers vs Suns Prediction

It feels like the writing might be on the wall for the Clippers. The spread for this game is set at 12.5 points in favor of the Suns, and injuries are once again tearing apart the Clippers’ hopes of a playoff push.

This is nothing new for Clippers fans, who saw the team in this situation when Chris Paul and Kawhi dealt with injuries during the 2021 playoffs. Now here they are again, competing in a playoff series without their best players, and the Suns look poised to twist the knife and send them home.

Game 4 was more competitive than we might have expected, but that was largely due to Russell Westbrook's incredible contribution in attempting to put the team on his back and tie the series.

The Clippers guard, who has been with the franchise for only a couple of months, played 40 minutes and scored 37 points when nobody else on the roster was capable of more than 14. Westbrook dug deep and helped the Clippers keep it close for most of the game, but the Suns pulled away in the final minutes to take a 3-1 lead.

In my prediction for Game 4, I said that with Paul George and Kawhi Leonard unavailable, the Clippers would need somebody to help out Westbrook by stepping up with a big scoring night. That didn’t happen. Had it happened, we could very possibly be looking at a 2-2 tie right now.

Norman Powell was disappointing, failing to have the impact he had in the previous game. Powell shot just 4-for-15, while Eric Gordon and Marcus Morris shot a combined 3-for-14 from 3-point range.

The Suns are still far from convincing as far as having any potential to reach the NBA Finals, but they appear to have too much firepower for a Clippers team that is struggling to remain in this series. Devin Booker and Kevin Durant combined for 61 points in Game 4. Phoenix also won the rebounding matchup and looked like the more complete team.

Unless somebody manages to have a breakout game for the Clippers and keep their hopes alive, this series could, and likely should, be over in five.

Best NBA Same Game Parlay Picks Today for Clippers vs. Suns - NBA Playoffs Game 5: 4-Leg Parlay Picks (+950)

Russell Westbrook Points Total

The one guy on the Clippers we can rely on as bettors right now is Russell Westbrook. He hasn’t let us down yet and has proven that he can absolutely still play at a high level in the NBA after going through a turbulent period with the Lakers.

In a short space of time, Westbrook has completely turned the narrative around. He now has NBA fans rooting for him to continue his fine form and keep the series alive. Everybody loves an underdog story, and this one starts with a former MVP faced with a mountain to climb.

Westbrook is averaging 26 points per game in this series and has hit 30+ in the last two games. That includes his brilliant 37-point night in Game 4. With odds at -115 to score 25 or more once again, I can’t turn down the potential and will be kicking off these NBA same-game parlay picks with another salute to Russ and what he’s been able to do for the Clippers in this series.

Leg-1 SGP Pick: Russell Westbrook 25+ Points (-115)

Deandre Ayton Rebounds Total

Deandre Ayton has stepped up his performance on the glass since Game 1, when he tussled with Ivica Zubac for much of the game. He has now had 13-rebound nights in two of the last three games and managed 11 in the third. His contribution is helping the Suns gain an edge over the Clippers.

In Game 4, the Clippers played more small ball to create scoring opportunities. Zubac played for only 24 minutes, while Mason Plumlee had 19 minutes as a substitute, and Marcus Morris played at the five. This approach allowed Ayton to grab 13 rebounds, and if the Clippers repeat the same tactics in Game 5, Ayton is likely to exceed 10 rebounds with little difficulty.

Leg-2 SGP Pick: Deandre Ayton 10+ Rebounds (-205)

Terance Mann 3-Pointers Made

Trust me, I know the risk when it comes to betting on Terance Mann this season. He has been one of the toughest players to predict in terms of big performances, let alone the amount of minutes he might play each night, but common sense is leading me on this one.

The Clippers need a spark from shooters who can produce alongside Russ if they’re going to remain in the series. Mann’s 3-for-4 performance from 3-point range proved to be one of the Clippers’ best options in Game 4 of this series. So, on the brink of elimination and with nothing to lose, let the Mann shoot.

Leg-3 SGP Pick: Terance Mann 2+ Three Pointers made (+175)

Spread Bet

I have the Suns winning this game. It would be miraculous to watch the Clippers somehow pull it out on the road. While I would love to see Russell Westbrook lead the team to a win almost single-handedly, I just don’t think that's realistic. Westbrook has won back NBA fans already in this series, and I don’t doubt he’ll be excellent once again in Game 5. However, the Suns have to close out this series in this game.

That said, I don’t believe the 12.5-point spread is in Phoenix’s favor. I much prefer the Clippers covering that line, especially when they have nothing to lose on the road. My gut leans that way here, since the Suns have been unable to close out the Clippers defensively so far in the series. I think the Clippers take a high volume of shots and make the game competitive so that, if they exit the playoffs at the end of the night, they can walk out with their heads held high.

Leg-4 SGP Pick: L.A. Clippers +12.5 (-125)
