Madison Square Garden will play host to an NBA playoff game on Friday night for the first time in 23 months, and the over/under on the number of attorneys ejected by Jim Dolan’s facial recognition software is 2.5.

Dolan has been under fire by New York lawmakers for using that software to identify attorneys involved in litigation against his companies, and the team owner is expected to be in his customary baseline courtside seat on Friday night when this series resumes after a 72-hour hiatus.

Given how poorly the Knicks played Tuesday night in allowing the Cavs to tie the series at one game apiece, suffice to say that the time off will be a welcome respite for Knicks fans steamed over the team’s lackluster performance at Cleveland in Game 2. New York was down 20 at halftime and never competed in the second half despite having its starters on the floor at the end for reasons that remain unclear.

The last time the playoffs came to The Garden, Trae Young famously took a bow after picking the Knicks apart -- explaining that if Broadway performers do it, then why shouldn’t he? The Cavs do not have that type of a villain character on their roster, but they do have a native New Yorker, Donovan Mitchell, who wanted to be dealt to the Knicks last summer but did not get his wish. The best bet is that Mitchell will come in stoked.

Cavs vs Knicks Injury Report

Both teams are at full strength. Knicks forward Julius Randle took a hard fall and landed on his back when he was flagrantly fouled by Cavs center Jarrett Allen with two minutes left Tuesday night, but pronounced himself OK.

Cavaliers vs Knicks Prediction

As Knicks fans are painfully well aware, there has not been a home postseason series victory at MSG since 2012-13 when Carmelo Anthony was the team’s superstar and Jason Kidd was their go-to 3-point shooter off the bench. Yes, it has been a long decade. The lone home victory came in Game 2 vs. Atlanta two years ago -- a win followed by three straight defeats.

Games 1 and 2 were completely dissimilar, which makes predicting this one tough. Neither team has extensive experience competing in the playoffs with its present roster, but the one guy who can be counted on to perform at his best is Mitchell, who grew up in suburban Elmsford. Mitchell was in the audience at the Greenwich (Conn.) Boys and Girls Club in 2011 when LeBron James announced his famous “Decision” to leave Cleveland and join the Miami Heat. Oddly, he is now the Cavs’ best hope.

Best NBA Playoffs Same Game Parlay Picks Friday for Cavs vs Knicks Game 3: 3-Leg Parlay Picks (+235)

Leg-1 SGP Pick: Over 211.5 (-115): The over/under on Mitchell’s points is not yet posted, and we counsel taking the over whenever it goes up. For now, we will concentrate on a same-game parlay tied to team trends. The under hit by 18 points in Game 1 and 17 points in Game 2, and it has been adjusted downward by 2.5 points for Game 3 at MSG, where the Knicks went under only nine times in 29 outings as a home favorite. That 69 percent conversion rate is by far the highest among the 16 remaining NBA playoff teams, and that is a trend you do not want to bet against. We like the over.

Leg-2 SGP Pick: Point Spead Knicks – 1.5 (-125): The Cavs were road underdogs only 16 times all season, and they covered in just six of those games. New York went an unappealing 12-15-2 as a home favorite but covered the spread and went over in all four of its Friday night home games during the regular season. The crowd will give the Knicks a boost, and coach Tom Thibodeau tends to get the most out of his teams after they have had a seriously off night, which is what happened Tuesday.
