Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia Best Bets: Odds, Picks and Predictions for Saturday, April 22

Saturday night's highly anticipated boxing match between Gervonta “Tank” Davis and Ryan Garcia is set to be a masterclass. Both men are undefeated in professional boxing. Davis’ record stands tall at 28-0 and a 92 percent knockout rate, while Garcia’s record reads 23-0 with 19 knockouts of his own.

Somebody is going to lose his unbeaten record on Saturday night, but these two fighters made it a little more interesting with an agreed wager for fight’s entire purse.

During an Instagram live session, Davis prompted Garcia to put his share of the purse on the line in a winner-takes-all scenario, which Garcia agreed to do.

Tank has maintained that Garcia doesn’t have the skill to compete with him and enters this fight confident he’ll claim win No. 29. Garcia is considered the underdog, but he believes in his ability to upset the narrative.

Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia Predictions and Picks

Ryan Garcia vs. Tank will likely be one of the biggest fights of the year. Gervonta Davis’ stats are impressive. He’s the No. 2-ranked fighter in the lightweight division and has knocked out 26 of 28 opponents on the way to his 28-0 record.

His challenger is right behind him, ranked No. 3, and Ryan Garcia’s stats are almost as impressive. He has knocked out 19 of 23 opponents in compiling his 23-0 record.

It's highly likely that the upcoming fight will determine the next title fight against current lightweight champion Devin Haney or his challenger, Vasil Lomachenko. Haney claimed the belt back in June 2022 and will defend it against Lomachenko on May 20.

As the taller fighter, Garcia enjoys an edge in terms of length and reach, but Davis is a formidable southpaw with significant power. Garcia must therefore face Davis' power and focus on scoring points to secure victory and surpass Gervonta in the rankings.

It should be a great run of boxing on Saturday night, headlined by this prestigious fight between two of the best lightweights around. Here are a few picks to look out for during the event.

The Picks:

Ryan Garcia’s weight could be a factor in the fight. He had to agree to fight Tank Davis at 135 pounds with a 10-pound rehydration clause. Garcia is used to fighting above 140, closer to boxing’s super lightweight division, so the adjustment could be a factor on Saturday night.

Garcia seems well on his way to the required weight -- showing off his physique on social media in the buildup to the fight -- and that might mean he’s even lighter and quicker on his feet than we’ve seen him in the past.

That said, we saw Garcia take punches and go down when he caught an early shot from Luke Campbell. He got himself back into that fight and stopped it in seven rounds, but Gervonta Davis has some real power, and Garcia will want to avoid making those mistakes against such a skilled opponent.

I have Garcia to take a few shots and Davis to drop him within the first six rounds.

The Pick: Ryan Garcia to be knocked down in Rounds 1-6 (-138)

Gervonta Davis has never officially been knocked down in 28 fights to this point. He stumbled backwards once in the first round of a fight against Leo Santa Cruz, but it wasn’t ruled a knockdown.

I don’t see him going down in this one either. Garcia will need to counter Davis' aggressive approach, but his best shot at winning is via the scorecard. Garcia lacks Davis’ level of power, and Davis can absorb significant punishment without showing any signs of weakness.

The Pick: Gervonta Davis Not to be Knocked Down (-334)

Make no mistake about it, this should be a really enticing fight. Ryan Garcia is by no means a heavy underdog, and even though he might be fighting closer to Gervonta Davis’ weight, he’s very capable of mustering the upset.

That said, Davis is one of the very best there is right now. He seems destined for a title fight with either Haney or Lomachenko, and I personally feel he can take down Garcia on his way there.

Davis' aggression and ability to fight on the front foot will make him the instigator in this one, and that will have Garcia trying to level the scorecard and potentially leaving himself exposed as the fight develops.

I hope to see it go eight-plus rounds for the sheer entertainment of these two excellent fighters, but I have Davis claiming the win by KO or TKO, eventually wearing down Garcia.

The Pick: Gervonta Davis by KO, TKO or Disqualification (-138)
