Favorites to win 2023-24 NBA Southeast Division
Miami’s anticipated addition of Damian Lillard is impacting this line, along with the fact that the Heat have very little competition and beat the Hawks three times last season. Atlanta has added veteran Patty Mills, but it gave up John Collins to Utah, removing one of the NBA’s most consistent frontline players over the past several seasons from its roster. Onyeka Okongwu or Saddiq Bey will be the replacement at the starting power forward spot, and the Hawks have a nice top eight – hence the short odds. The Magic, Wizards, and Hornets are in rebuilds. Save your money.
2023-24 NBA Southeast Prediction and Best Bets
It is going to be Atlanta or Miami, and it will likely come down to the last week of the season. And since the Heat do not take the regular season seriously, while the Hawks are a team that feels it has something to prove, there is reason to take the latter of the two because of the longer odds.
They did not get much from Utah in the trade that sent John Collins away, but Trae Young is a player who will give them 82 strong games, and the fact that the Heat do not even try to compete until April makes the Hawks the better pick.
