Favorites to win 2023-24 NBA Sixth Man of the Year

Immanuel Quickley (+700)

A pure scorer who backs up Jalen Brunson for a Knicks team that will need a bench boost nightly to make up for the offensive shortcomings of starters Mitchell Robinson and R.J. Barrett.

Malcolm Brogdon (+900)

We expect the Trail Blazers to trade him to a contender, which does not bode well for winning this award.

Norman Powell (+1000)

He has been a nice player ever since the Clippers acquired him from Portland, but award level? Don’t see that.

Malik Monk (+1200)

Got the job done on a nightly basis for the Kings last season with some of the most productive per-minute numbers in the entire NBA.

Bobby Portis (+1600)

The designated tough guy (the label fits) on a Bucks team that could win 70 or more games with all the talent they have.

Chris Paul (+1600)

Has not come off the bench since high school. But very popular, and will draw votes if he contributes nightly to a 65-win team.

Derrick White (+1600)

Was going to take over the job formerly filled by Malcolm Brogdon and Marcus Smart, but then Jrue Holiday was acquired, and that will squeeze his minutes.

Russell Westbrook (+1600)

Right now, he is a starter. If James Harden comes aboard, does Harden start? Too many questions there.

2023-24 NBA Sixth Man of the Year Predictions and Pick

Keep an eye on Bruce Brown of the Indiana Pacers, who has always come off the bench but has been starting in the preseason. Paul will be a strong candidate, and it might come down to whether the Kings or Warriors win the Pacific Division.

The Pick: Monk (+1200)

NBA Sixth Man of the Year History

This is almost always a guy who provides instant offense, which is why we like Monk (and Brown, if he is a reserve). The last guy who won this award because of his defense was Anthony Mason in 1995.

Here are the last 10 winners of NBA Six Man of the Year history:

2023: Brogdon
2022: Tyler Herro
2021: Jordan Clarkson
2020: Montrezl Harrell

2018: Lou Williams
2017: Eric Gordon
2016: Jamal Crawford
