Best NBA Player Prop Bets Tonight: Thursday, March 16

Nuggets vs. Pistons Player Prop Bets
James Wiseman

James Wiseman has found new life since joining the Detroit Pistons, whose youth movement has created an opportunity for the young big man. Over his last five games, he has averaged 16.6 points and 10.2 rebounds in roughly 28.4 minutes of playing time. The sky's the limit for Wiseman in Detroit, and he’s making the most of his opportunity with a new team. While it might seem that Wiseman is in for a tough time going up against back-to-back NBA MVP Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets on Thursday night, this is actually a favorable matchup for him. Despite controlling the top seed in the Western Conference playoff race, the Nuggets have a weak spot when it comes to defending the post. Denver’s 52.9 points-per-game allowed in the paint is the NBA’s fifth-highest such total. Expect Wiseman’s ongoing streak of solid performances to continue on Thursday night.

The Pick: James Wiseman over 22.5 points + rebounds (-120)
Kings vs. Nets Player Prop Bets
Mikal Bridges

Since arriving in Brooklyn in the trade that sent Kevin Durant to Phoenix, Bridges has been on a tear -- averaging 26.3 points on 50.6 percent shooting and 45.8 percent from 3-point range. He has truly been the do-it-all guy for Brooklyn. Despite losing Durant and Kyrie Irving to trades before the deadline, the Nets have stayed afloat with plenty of help from Bridges. Brooklyn, sixth in the Eastern Conference at 39-30, will host the Sacramento Kings on Thursday night. This is expected to be one of the highest-scoring games on the slate, and Bridges’ points prop is too low in this one, since has scored 30-plus points in five of his last seven games.

The Pick: Mikal Bridges over 25.5 points (-135)
Thunder vs. Raptors Player Prop Bets Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

At the start of this season, I don’t think many people believed the Oklahoma City Thunder would still be in playoff contention this late in the year. Even though the added NBA Play-In Tournament offers 10 out of 15 teams in each conference a shot at the postseason, the Thunder most certainly weren’t on the radar. But fast-forward to March, and Oklahoma City controls its own destiny -- currently holding the Western Conference’s ninth seed. With every win becoming crucial, the Thunder have relied on leading scorer Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to lead the way. In each of his last four games since returning from injury, Gilgeous-Alexander has scored 33 or more points, and in the final game he played before the injury, he had 39 points. While the Toronto Raptors are sound defensively -- ranking seventh in the NBA for points allowed per game, SGA is talented enough to take on any defense. He will break 30 again in another important game for the Thunder.

The Pick: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander over 30.5 points (-125)
Magic vs. Suns Player Prop Bets Paolo Banchero

Orlando Magic forward Paolo Banchero is having such a great rookie season that he makes one wonder if he’s actually a rookie. Banchero is the only player from the 2022 draft class averaging at least 20 points per game this season. At 20.1 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, Banchero should easily claim NBA Rookie of the Year honors. Over his past six games, he has scored at least 20 points five times, and the lone exception was a 17-point performance. Banchero will go up against a stingy Phoenix Suns defense that allows the sixth-fewest points in the paint this season. Nevertheless, I’m willing to ride with the rookie and test his luck against a Suns frontcourt led by DeAndre Ayton.

The Pick: Paolo Banchero over 19.5 points (-105)
