The high-flying Philadelphia 76ers were stopped in their tracks by the Chicago Bulls on Monday night in a double overtime loss that snapped their eight-game win streak. The Sixers had briefly overtaken the Boston Celtics for second place in the Eastern Conference before the loss and now find themselves back in third, although they do have multiple games in hand.

Chicago will now host the Sixers in the second of back-to-back games against them, this time on their home court. The Bulls are on a three-game win streak, having won two of those games in double overtime against both the Sixers and the Minnesota Timberwolves. They currently sit tenth in the East and are aiming for a spot in the play-in.

Best NBA Same Game Parlay Picks Today for Philadelphia 76ers vs Chicago Bulls: 4-Leg Parlay Picks (+1177)

Point Spread

Despite two overtimes, the Chicago Bulls delivered a determined performance that restricted the Sixers' crucial playmakers for most of the game, resulting in the game still cashing the under.

Chicago held the Sixers to 105 points, adding to a strong performance allowing just 99 points against the Miami Heat in their previous outing. They’ll now go back to their home court intending to do the same, but is it possible on back-to-back nights?

Let’s face it, the Sixers were off, James Harden in particular. The Sixers guard shot 0-6 from three-point range and was 2-14 from the floor in Monday night’s game, and De’Anthony Melton had to cover for the lost points from the bench, knocking down five threes for a 19-point total.

I’d be surprised to see Harden have such a low total two nights in a row, and the Sixers will clean it up a lot after such a poor display on Monday night which should result in a far more efficient scoring night. I have them covering here on the road.

The Chicago Bulls have covered the spread in four of their last six games, with a fifth game resulting in a push. They’re hot right now against spreads, but the Sixers have been strong ATS all season. Philly is 42-29 against spread so far this season, including a four-game streak that ended with the loss against the Bulls.

Leg-1 SGP Pick: Philadelphia 76ers -3.5 (-115)

Joel Embiid

Joel Embiid is making the best case in the NBA for the league MVP award right now. The Sixers big man is averaging 36.2 points per game so far in March, along with 9.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.4 blocks.

Embiid fouled out late in the fourth quarter against the Bulls with 37 points on the board, marking the first game he’s hit the six-foul mark since mid-December. Despite a slow night for James Harden, the Bulls had no answer for Embiid, who is automatic right now at the elbow and impossible to keep away from the free-throw line.

I’m predicting Embiid reaching 35 once again with ease, especially with Chicago allowing an average of almost 25 free throws a game in their last five. No team in the NBA takes better advantage of the free-throw line. Both Embiid and Harden know how to draw fouls, with the Sixers center being particularly frustrating to deal with under the basket.

Embiid had 17 free throw attempts on Monday night, over his March average of 12.8, with the Bulls struggling to contain him inside the paint. Even with Nikola Vucevic doing a good job in defending the Bulls hoop on multiple occasions, the persistence of Embiid is too much for most teams in the NBA right now.

Leg-2 SGP Pick: Joel Embiid Over 33.5 Points (-120)

DeMar DeRozan

DeMar DeRozan has scored 23 or more points in nine of his last 10 appearances against the Philadelphia 76ers, and the last seven of those came as a member of the Chicago Bulls.

The Bulls guard is averaging 27.8 points per game in the month of March, boosted by a 49-point performance against the Timberwolves three games ago. Everything seems to point towards the over, but the Sixers had a poor night against the Bulls on Monday and DeRozan barely managed 25 points in double overtime.

DeMar averages 51.2 per cent from the floor this season, but is shooting 44.7 per cent against the Sixers, one of his poorest shooting performances against any team in the NBA. Philly gives up over 24 points to shooting guards but a lot of that comes from the three-point line, which is not DeRozan’s game.

I think Philly get stubborn in this one, particularly protecting the paint, and hold the Bulls to a 100-105 scoring night, with DeRozan coming in around 17-20 points.

Leg-3 SGP Pick: DeMar DeRozan Under 22.5 Points (-110)

Points Total

The Sixers are 38-32-1 when it comes to covering overs this season, while the Chicago Bulls are 30-40-1. Defense has been the name of the game for Chicago in a lot of their wins this season, and they’ve cashed four unders in their last six games, winning four of those matchups.

The two sides have split their matchups so far this season with one over and two unders and Chicago taking the win in the last two. They’re playing frustrating defense and the addition of Patrick Beverley has certainly added to that frustration for the teams they line up against.

Philadelphia have multiple talents who can produce a big scoring night out of nowhere, and their struggle against the Bulls on Monday came as a result of all of those guys struggling to find a rhythm. While I think Philly win this one, I’m pushed towards the under once again out of respect for Chicago’s defensive ability.

If the over is going to cash in this game, it’s going to take a standout performance from one of the Sixers not named Joel Embiid, like a Tyrese Maxey 30-point game or 20+ from James Harden. I can’t see it happening after watching Monday’s game, even if Philly tidy it up. The under is better value in this one.

Leg-4 SGP Pick: Philadelphia 76ers vs Chicago Bulls Under 221.5 Points (-105)
