Errol Spence Jr. vs Terence Crawford Predictions

Make no mistake about it, this bout is one of the biggest events in recent boxing history, and a fight that certainly feels like it's long overdue. Two undefeated fighters with belts in their corner put it all on the line in what could go down as one of the greatest fights in boxing history.

Errol Spence Jr’s record stands at 28-0 with 22 knockouts. The 33-year-old has three titles -- IBF World Welterweight, WBA Super World Welterweight, and WBC World Welterweight. He’s a powerful fighter and certainly has a slight advantage over Crawford in that regard. When allowed to get inside, Spence can deal a heavy amount of damage to the body. That strategy has worn down many of Spence’s opponents in the past, but it won't be easy to pull off against Terence “Bud” Crawford.

With an impressive record of 39-0, Crawford is an extremely dangerous fighter, especially when it comes to countering his opponents. He is often more than happy to play a smart, defensive game and look for an opportunity to catch his opponent off guard. Spence will therefore need to be extremely careful with his approach.

Crawford's record speaks for itself, as he has 30 knockouts in his 39 wins. He’s the current WBO World Welterweight champion and is looking to add to his belt collection on Saturday night.

“Bud” is a dangerous man, and his 2018 knockout of Jose Benavidez Jr. lives in my memory as one of the most devastating uppercuts I have ever seen live. If you also consider how Crawford wore down and damaged Julius Indongo, you realize that the sheer power in his body shots is enough to cripple some of the very best.

Crawford’s record in defending his titles are impressive. He has 14 world-title defenses to his name in his career, including six in the welterweight class.

Spence will want to attack the body, but Crawford is a brick wall sometimes, almost impossible to break down enough to do any damage. Plus, if Spence comes too hard and fast in trying to attack inside, he might get caught by that trademark counterpunch style.

Both men are outstanding fighters, and the chances are neither will give up any easy looks. It could be one of the most impressive matchups of technical boxing and tactics that we’ve ever seen, and it certainly makes for an unmissable night of boxing on Saturday.

Errol Spence Jr. vs Terence Crawford Best Picks

Errol Spence Jr., who competed at 152 pounds during the 2012 Olympics, is the heavier of these two fighters. However, Crawford has stated that he doesn’t fear that statistic at all, and why should he?

Crawford is comfortable being the slightly smaller fighter, and he’s comfortable being on the backfoot while allowing opponents to try breaking him down.

Ultimately, Crawford comes out as the slight favorite for a fight where it feels almost impossible to make a decision on which way to bet. Somebody has to win, though, and it feels as if Crawford will be able to eke this one out on the scorecards.

The Pick: Terence Crawford by decision or technical decision (+200)

Neither fighter has ever been knocked down in a professional fight, which makes Saturday night’s Spence vs. Crawford matchup an even more interesting spectacle.

Could we see either of these all-time great boxers get caught off guard or be dealt a body blow that could take them down to a knee, or worse?

These are two of the smartest and most calculated fighters in the game, and I expect to see a fiery battle, but neither is going to open himself up to that amount of damage.

It’s going to take a stroke of genius to rock either opponent, so I feel good about taking the no-knockdowns route at -154 odds.

The Pick: No knockdowns (-154)

In the unlikely event of a knockdown, my bet would be on Spence to achieve it. He has consistently showcased his dominance in the ring over the years, and it's difficult to imagine that the champion he has become would ever come anywhere close to the canvas. However, Crawford's counter ability is on another level.

I’m well aware that Spence has never been knocked down, but if Crawford can catch him off guard with a damaging blow, then he might momentarily knock the wind out of his opponent.

The Pick: Errol Spence Jr to be knocked down (+225)
