The departure of Candace Parker and Isabelle Harrison this season has been a disappointment for Kahleah Copper, who I felt would take the reins of this offense this season. While she’s shown flashes of 27 points here and 29 points there, she’s also had numerous 10 or less point games as well. If the Sky want to turn their season around it starts with Copper showing consistency and they’ll need a big scoring night out of her on Friday night. The Atlanta Dream have one of the worst defenses in the WNBA and in her first matchup against Atlanta, Copper was 4-14 and had 10 points. Look for Copper to get into the 20’s as it’ll be needed and nearly required if the Sky want to come out victorious on Friday night.

Brittney Griner will have full control of the Phoenix Mercury offense on Friday night with Diana Taurasi out for rest as they take on the Minnesota Lynx. The Lynx rank in the middle of the pack when it comes to points allowed in the paint this season and Griner has already demonstrated her dominance in their first two matchups. With 19 points and 23 points in her first two matchups against the Lynx, Griner could be in 25 plus point territory with Taurasi out. The third leading scorer in the WNBA hasn’t lived up to her phenomenal scoring standards this season when she’s faced the Phoenix Mercury. To her defence, it’s not easy scoring against Brittney Griner. Having 8 points in their first matchup and 16 points in her second matchup, Collier is due for a good game against the Mercury and against Griner. Collier is coming off of her fourth 30th point game and that was against an Indiana Fever team who allow the fewest points in the paint to their opponents this season. While Griner has gotten the best of Collier so far this season, Collier will strike back with a big time performance on Friday night.

Dallas Wings star Arike Ogunbowale is coming off of her third worst scoring performance this season and will look for a big bounce back game as her Wings had the Las Vegas Aces on the ropes Wednesday night. Ogunbowale was 5-20 which marked her second worst shooting performance of the season on Wednesday night and yet they still almost upset the Aces. With the rematch game heading to Dallas and their home crowd behind her and her teammates, look for Ogunbowale to have a huge bounce back game against an Aces team that will likely be without guard Kelsey Plum who’s one of the better on ball defenders in the WNBA.
