Even with an opening game loss, Seattle Sounders FC fans are the most hyped fans for this season with an online positive sentiment score of 24%.

The Columbus Crew and LA Galaxy followed in joint second place, with online positive sentiment sitting at 20%.

Inter Miami CF shocked the world by signing Lionel Messi last year and have since bolstered their squad further with the signings of Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Luis Suarez.

Despite the star-studded talents in the sunshine state, Inter Miami fans were surprisingly outside of the top 10 most hyped MLS fans with a positive sentiment score of just 14%.

Colorado Rapids are one the teams with huge odds to win the MLS as many are expecting the team to struggle. However, Rapids fans still remain optimistic for the season and this is reflected in their positive sentiment score of 17%.

CF Monreal and Vancouver Whitecaps had the lowest online positive sentiment scores in the entire league (4% and 5% respectively). Meanwhile fans of fellow Canada franchise Toronto FC weren’t much more optimistic for the season, with their positive sentiment score (10%) also landing them in the bottom 10.

The New York Red Bulls are arguably one of the stronger sides in the league, but their fans aren’t too hyped for this season with a positive sentiment score of just 9%. The team’s opening game 0-0 draw will not have helped fans’ optimism either.

To determine the most optimistic MLS fans, we used the social listening tool, Brandwatch, that crawls data on mentions across the internet.

Sentiment data was looked at over the last 30 days and was sourced from each team’s home state.
