Best NHL Player Prop Bets Today – Tuesday, February 28th Tage Thompson The Columbus Blue Jackets defense is dreadful, as they rank 28th in the NHL overall and third overall in shots allowed per game with an average of 34.95. The last time these two teams met, Buffalo rolled to a 9-4 win that included six first-period Sabres goals. Center Tage Thompson scored five goals in that game -- burying the glorified hat trick. While it would be hard to duplicate a five-goal performance again, one goal for Thompson seems very doable. I like two plays for Thompson tonight against this bad Blue Jackets defense.

The Picks: Tage Thompson anytime goalscorer (-120)
Tage Thompson over 3.5 shots on goal (-145)
Bo Horvat Newly-acquired center Bo Horvat has been kind of quiet since joining the New York Islanders. Despite having 36 goals on the season, Horvat has scored only five in 11 games since coming to New York. Brought in to help improve this below-league-average offense, Horvat needs to give the Islanders better production soon. The Minnesota Wild are no slouches defensively, allowing the ninth-fewest shots on goal this season. Horvat has reached three shots on goal just once in his past five games, but he will turn the tide on Tuesday night. A big game from him will help lead the Islanders to a nice road win.

The Pick: Bo Horvat over 2.5 shots on goal( -105)
Pheonix Copley The Los Angeles Kings have themselves a goalie in Pheonix Copley. His 17-4-2 record this season includes an average of 2.74 goals allowed per game and a .901 save percentage, Copley has done a fine job for this Kings defense and team, and he’ll draw a tough road matchup against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday night. I expect this to be a close game. In his past five starts, Copley has allowed more than two goals only once –- and that happened in a 4-3 OT loss to a high-powered New Jersey Devils offense. The Jets average 3.03 goals per game, but Copley will hold them below that average when the Kings visit Winnipeg on Tuesday night.

The Pick: Pheonix Copley under 2.5 goals against (+105)
Dan Vladar Flames backup goalie Dan Vladar has been all right this season, but his 12-6-5 record is due largely to the offensive and defensive success of Calgary’s skaters in front of his net. The Flames will host one of the best offenses in hockey on Tuesday night, and Vladar will get exposed. He has allowed four, three, and five goals in his past three starts, and it won’t get any easier on Tuesday night when the league-leading Boston Bruins visit the Scotiabank Saddledome.

The Pick: Dan Vladar over 2.5 goals against (-135)
