For the first time in three weeks, Monday Night Football will not be blessing us with a double-header slate. That’s right, we’re only getting one Monday night game to close out the NFL’s Week 4 schedule. While the double-headers were fun while they lasted – and another one is scheduled for Week 14 – having one game feels more traditional. In fact, it’s more than enough for primetime on a Monday night, because channel flipping and a multiple-television setup is more of a Sunday tradition. In any case, the upcoming Monday game involves an NFC battle between two teams going in opposite directions so far this season.

Seahawks at Giants Preview

The New York Giants and Seattle Seahawks are moving in completely different directions as they enter Week 4 of the NFL season. The Giants (1-2) are trying to find their identity during what has been a rollercoaster season so far. The Seahawks (2-1) are on a two-game winning streak after being humbled 30-13 by the Los Angeles Rams in their season-opener. The Giants are awaiting positive news on running back Saquon Barkley, who injured his ankle in Week 2 and missed the team’s last game. His status and return date remain up in the air. Meanwhile, the Seahawks are happy to have safety Jamal Adams back. Adams returned to practice this week, and Seattle will look to unleash him when he makes his 2023 season debut on Monday night. If Barkley can’t play in this game, then New York quarterback Daniel Jones will have to carry the Week 4 offensive load as the Giants look to get back on track without their star rusher. That won’t be easy to do, because Barkley had 92 total yards and a touchdown in the Giants’ lone win this season.

Seahawks vs. Giants Predictions and NFL Picks Week 4

The Seahawks defense has played like two separate units this season. Their run defense has been elite -- allowing the NFL’s sixth-fewest rushing yards at 79.3 per game. Their passing defense, however, has been pedestrian-like. Seattle allows the NFL’s second-most passing yards per game at 328 so far this season. Safety Jamal Adams had missed the first three weeks recovering from a torn quad tendon, so getting him back for this game will be a huge boost for the Seahawks’ secondary. However, Seattle needs to start defending the pass better if it wants to continue winning games. This offense has averaged 37 points over its last two games, but that just isn’t sustainable. The Seahawks defense has had to deal with stellar quarterbacks in the Rams’ Matthew Stafford and Detroit’s Jared Goff, but Carolina veteran backup quarterback Andy Dalton came off the bench in Week 3 and threw for 361 yards and two touchdowns against Seattle, which made him look like he was back in Cincinnati again.

On the whole, the Giants’ defense has been a dumpster fire. New York is allowing opponents to score 32.7 points per game – the third-highest total in the NFL. Factor in a struggling offense and an injured Saquon Barkley, and it’s just pure turmoil in New York. While the Seahawks’ secondary is a work in progress at the moment, getting Adams back will help out a lot. Give me the Seattle Seahawks as a money-line pick in this one, because they should be able to handle the Giants on the road.

The Pick: Seattle Seahawks ML (-120)

As mentioned here earlier, the Giants’ offense is truly in turmoil. Without Barkley in the backfield, the team lacks an identity. Quarterback Daniel Jones’ only real receiving threat is tight end Darren Waller. Luckily for the Giants, the Seahawks allow the league’s sixth-most yards to opposing tight ends this season, so Waller should have a plenty of opportunities on Monday night. Since joining the Giants this year, the 6-foot-6 tight end has had only one Waller-type game. That came in Week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals, when Waller caught six passes for 76 yards. With Jamal Adams back in Seattle’s secondary, I expect there to be much-improved pass coverage by the Seahawks. Adams is a leader on Seattle’s defense and one of the top safeties in the NFL. If Barkley doesn’t play, then New York will have no choice but to force-feed Waller just to be competitive in this one. The Giants’ defense stinks, and the Seahawks’ defensive backs need to prove themselves. Given that the Seahawks have scored 37 points in each of their last two games, I’ll lean toward the over here despite it being a high total.

The Pick: Over 46.5 (-120)

Best NFL Player Prop Bets for Seahawks vs. Giants: Monday Night Football Week 4

Darren Waller

The Seahawks DBs have been awful this year. Getting safety Jamal Adams back will definitely help, but the secondary situation will continue to be a work in progress over the coming weeks. Even a strong performance by Adams isn’t guaranteed, since he’s coming back from a serious injury that could prevent him from having the impact most people expect. Through their first three games, the Seahawks have allowed the NFL’s seventh-most receiving yards to opposing tight ends. None of the tight ends Seattle has already faced are anywhere near Darren Waller’s level. The Giants will likely be without Saquon Barkley on Monday night, so the only other playmaker available to them will be Waller. Expect a big night out of Waller on Monday.

The Pick: Darren Waller over 48.5 receiving yards (-115)

Best Same-Game Parlay Week 4 bets for Seahawks vs Giants: 3-Leg Parlay Pick (+700)

Passing TDs

Seattle’s secondary gets a boost with safety Jamal Adams’ return to the lineup, which will make it more difficult for Daniel Jones and the Giants to move the ball. However, the Seahawks’ run defense is stout – ranking sixth in the NFL while allowing just 79.3 rushing yards per game. If Barkley remains out with an injury and is not available to run the ball, gaining yardage on the ground will be virtually impossible for New York. Jones has had pedestrian-like numbers so far this season. He has thrown only two TD passes, and both of those scores came against the Arizona Cardinals. Nevertheless, if the Giants want to stay competitive in this game, they will have to get a good performance from their quarterback.

Leg-1 SGP Pick: Daniel Jones 2+ Passing Touchdowns (+130)

Darren Waller

As mentioned above, Darren Waller is going to have a good game on Monday night. He absolutely needs to have one because he’ll be the only true playmaker for this Giants offense if Barkley is out. The Seahawks defense has been giving up a lot of yards to opposing tight ends this season, so look for the Giants to exploit that weakness.

Leg-2 SGP Pick: Darren Waller 70+ receiving yards (+220)

Kenneth Walker III

The Seahawks have scored 37 points in each over their past two games, and their offense is red hot. Drawing the Giants defense will only add to that offensive upsurge. Running back Kenneth Walker has played a big role in Seattle’s last two 37-point performances. He will play a key role again on Monday night, because the Giants’ run defense is the fifth-worst in the NFL. The Giants have allowed 138 rushing yards per game through the season’s first three weeks, and Walker will exploit New York on Monday night.

Leg-3 SGP Pick: Kenneth Walker III 50+ rushing yards (-275)
