Last week it appeared that the Philadelphia Eagles had full control of the NFC East division and would claim the conference’s No. 2 playoff seed. However, the Arizona Cardinals shook up Philadelphia’s expectations in dramatic fashion when running back James Conner’s touchdown with less than a minute remaining gave Arizona a 35-31 upset win. Because Philadelphia lost to the Cardinals, the Dallas Cowboys were able to move up into first place in the NFC East. That division-title door remains open for Philadelphia, but the Eagles will have to beat the New York Giants on the road and hope the Cowboys lose at Washington if they plan to surpass Dallas. In any event, Sunday is surely going to be an interesting day for Eagles fans.

Eagles at Giants Preview

The Eagles and Giants will meet for the second time in two weeks on Sunday after Philadelphia squeaked past New York 33-25 in Week 16. Quarterback Tommy DeVito had started that game for the Giants, but a poor first-half performance led to his being relieved by Tyrod Taylor. It was certainly a tale of two halves. Taylor played much better than DeVito, and the Giants benefited from the improvement. Given how much is on the line for Philadelphia on Sunday, this rematch has become even more intriguing.

Eagles vs. Giants Predictions and Picks

If quarterback Tyrod Taylor had started the Giants’ Week 16 game against the Philadelphia Eagles instead of Tommy DeVito, then the Giants would likely have won. Had that happened, the Eagles’ subsequent loss to Arizona would not have been as devastating because Dallas would already have likely clinched the division title.  In my view, even when all the Giants quarterbacks are healthy, Taylor is New York’s best option at that position, and I’d like to see the team make him its No. 1 QB for next season. When Taylor starts at home on Sunday, the pressure will be on Philadelphia. Taylor has done a great job managing the Giants’ offense, which scored 17 of its 23 Week 16 points against Philadelphia in the second half. The Eagles are a broken team, and their defense is nonexistent. Look for the Giants to keep this game close and potentially steal it. So, taking the Giants and the points is the move to make here.

The Pick: New York Giants +4.5 (-110)

When it comes to defense, the Eagles and the Giants are both essentially missing in action. The Eagles allow the NFL’s fourth-most points per game (25.1), while the Giants allow the fifth-most (24.8). On the offensive side of the ball, the Eagles have been great, of course, because Philadelphia has the NFL’s seventh-highest scoring offense (26.4 points per game). It’s really not fair to judge the Giants on offense, because injuries have wreaked havoc on their team this season. The bottom line, though, is that the Giants score the NFL’s third-fewest points per game (14.9). This statistic would suggest a low-scoring game on Sunday, but the Giants offense is much better when Tyrod Taylor is in at quarterback. On a day when the Eagles will be trying to build some confidence heading into the postseason, the Giants will want to put up a good fight for their home crowd. As a result, look for this game to exceed the over/under total. Philadelphia wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith are matchup nightmares for New York, while Taylor will lead the Giants offense to its own share of points in this one. Take the over.

The Pick: Over 41.5 (-115)

Best NFL Player-Prop Bets for Eagles vs. Giants: Week 18

Tyrod Taylor

Giants quarterback Tyrod Taylor still has gas left in the tank, and he has performed like a starting quarterback whenever given an opportunity to lead New York’s offense. Taylor threw for 319 yards against the Los Angeles Rams last Sunday, and one week before that he threw for 133 yards in the second half against the Eagles. Taylor will get to play a full game in this rematch with the Eagles, and he will be intent on proving he deserves the starting job for next season. I expect him to perform and perform well.

The Pick: Tyrod Taylor over 205.5 Passing Yards (-120)

Best Same-Game Parlay Week 18 bets today for Eagles vs. Giants: 3-Leg Parlay Pick (+700)

Passing TDs Quarterback Tyrod Taylor will have one last chance in this 2023-24 NFL regular season to show both the Giants management and the greater NFL world that he can still be a No. 1 quarterback at age 34. He will have a favorable matchup against an Eagles defense that has been nearly nonexistent of late. Taylor came in to play the second half of the Giants’ Week 16 game against Philadelphia and threw for 133 yards and a touchdown. Giving him a full game to get at least two passing touchdowns seems more than reasonable.

Leg-1 SGP Pick: Tyrod Taylor 2+ Passing Touchdowns (+200)

Passing Yards This same-game parlay is quickly turning into a “Tyrod Taylor Parlay” because the Giants quarterback holds so much value against this Eagles defense. Taylor is coming off a 319-yard performance against the Los Angeles Rams last Sunday, and the Rams defend the pass better than Philadelphia. Since this is the Giants’ last game of the season, look for Taylor to take some extra shots as he goes for a second straight 300-yard game.

Leg-2 SGP Pick: Tyrod Taylor 250+ Passing Yards (+290)

Alternate Spread This last leg of the same-game parlay is a bit of a stretch on the juice side of things, but it’ll definitely cover us, and it does increase our payout without adding too much risk. The last leg will involve taking the Giants at +14.5. I think New York could win this game outright, so covering a multiple-touchdown spread is something the Giants can certainly do.

Leg-3 SGP Pick: New York Giants +14.5 (-450)
