The Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals last met in their Week 1 season-opener, and the Browns made a statement at home with a 24-3 win. The Bengals had no answer for the Browns’ defense that day, and Cleveland’s running game played a pivotal role in its offense. Fast forward to Week 18, and the Browns have already clinched a playoff spot by locking up the AFC’s No. 5 seed. The Bengals, on the other hand, will only be playing for pride at this point.

Browns at Bengals Preview

With their playoff position already solidified, the Cleveland Browns will be resting a lot of their starters in this game – a group that includes starting quarterback Joe Flacco. Because this game doesn’t hold much meaning for either team, it will definitely create some entertainment, because no one truly knows what will happen when backup players get most of the playing time. Sometimes in these scenarios, a new star is born.

Browns vs. Bengals Predictions and Picks

Even before this game lost any potential playoff implications, I had a very firm sense of how it would go, and I am even more confident of that view knowing that Cleveland will sit most of its starters on Sunday. Back when I imagined both teams would be using their starters, I still liked the Cincinnati Bengals in this matchup because I have been very impressed with the quarterback play from Jake Browning this season. I would really like to see him get an opportunity next season on a different roster where he can lead another team’s offense with Joe Burrow back at the helm in Cincinnati. That’s a different issue, however. Now that I know Cleveland plans to bench key players, I am even more confident about Cincinnati’s chances of winning this otherwise meaningless game. That’s because it’s not necessarily meaningless to Cincinnati, which will be playing in front of its home crowd with players looking to make a name for themselves ahead of next season. I therefore expect to see the Bengals close this season out on a good note. Give me the Bengals and the spread in this one.

The Pick: Cincinnati Bengals -7 (-110)

Predicting the over/under total for this game is one of the hardest picks that I’ve had to make this entire NFL season. The fact that the Browns plan to start Jeff Driskel at quarterback has really thrown me a curveball because I honestly have no idea what to expect from him. Given how low the over/under total is and how the Browns will likely sit key players on defense, I suspect the Bengals could exceed this total by themselves. While QB Jake Browning and the Cincinnati offense has yet to crack 35 points in a game this season, they did reach 34 points a few times already. Let’s roll the dice and hope for a Browns touchdown or two as we go with the over in this one.

The Pick: Over 36.5 (-120)

Best NFL Player-Prop Bets for Browns vs. Bengals: Week 18

Joe Mixon

Cincinnati running back Joe Mixon has been on fire over the past five games. He has scored touchdowns in four of those games and has five total touchdowns over the stretch. The Bengals will face a backup-filled Browns defense on Sunday, which should open the door even more for Mixon and the Bengals’ offense. Give me Mixon to score a touchdown and maybe even two on Sunday.

The Pick: Joe Mixon anytime touchdown (-125)

Best Same-Game Parlay for Browns vs. Bengals on Week 18: 2-Leg Parlay Pick (+950) Joe Mixon Touchdowns Running back Joe Mixon has been the focal point of the Bengals’ offense of late, having scored five touchdowns over his last five games and at least one TD in four of them. This is the season finale, and the Bengals are at home, so let’s have some fun with Mixon finding the end zone twice on Sunday.

Leg-1 SGP Pick: Joe Mixon 2+ Touchdowns (+425)

Bengals Points Scored The Cincinnati Bengals should give their home crowd a nice season finale on Sunday. With Cleveland opting to rest several key players ahead of the postseason, expect the Bengals to take advantage of their opportunity. Cincinnati has exceeded its current points total twice this season with quarterback Jake Browning running the show, and the Bengals will do so again on Sunday.

Leg-2 SGP Pick: Bengals 32.5+ Points (+400)
