Week 12 of the NFL season closes with an NFC North showdown between the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings on Monday Night Football. The Vikings and the Bears have played each other 125 times in their NFL history, and the Vikings hold the overall series edge at 66-57-2. A third tie seems highly unlikely on Monday night, since 56 years have passed since the last one. Let’s take a closer look at this matchup to determine who will get a nationally-televised win.

Bears at Vikings Preview

Things will look very different from what we saw when the Bears and Vikings faced each other in Week 6 at Chicago. On Monday night in Minneapolis, the Vikings won’t have No. 1 quarterback Kirk Cousins, who is out with a torn Achilles tendon. Meanwhile, the Bears expect to play this entire game with their No. 1 quarterback, Justin Fields, who got hurt early in the game at Soldier Field. With a 3-8 record, Chicago is realistically out of the playoff race, although the Bears have at least a mathematical chance at the postseason if they can win all their remaining games. On the other hand, the Vikings control their own destiny when it comes to a wild-card playoff berth and they still have an outside chance of stealing the NFC North title from the Detroit Lions. This Monday Night Football game should provide nonstop entertainment for fans, and I expect it to be completely different from what played out in the Oct. 15 matchup.

Bears vs. Vikings Predictions and Picks

Quarterback Josh Dobbs, who came to the Vikings in a trade earlier this season, has been very successful in Minnesota. His performance has quieted all the critics who wrote the Vikings off after both star wide receiver Justin Jefferson and star QB Kirk Cousins went down with injuries. In three games without either of these big-name players in their lineup, the Vikings have managed to go 2-1. They could even be 3-0 if it weren’t for a late Denver Broncos drive that ended with wide receiver Courtland Sutton scoring the go-ahead touchdown last Sunday.

Injuries have also plagued the Bears this season, as Chicago has lost players at virtually every position on both offense and defense. Now, however, the Bears are healthy, and they will look to play the spoiler role on Monday night to salvage what is left their season. Tanking these remaining games for a better draft pick is a moot issue, because the Bears already own the Carolina Panthers’ first-round pick in 2024. At the rate Carolina is going, that would be the No. 1 overall selection.

Will the Bears be able to pull off a Monday night upset? Their defense is going to have to come through for that to happen. That unit is healthy and essentially at full strength now, so it’s time for these players to start forcing stops and slowing down opposing offenses. Chicago’s defense already allows the NFL’s fewest rushing yards despite giving up the league’s fourth-highest average total points per game to opponents. If a full-strength Bears defense can simply stop the pass, this team will be just fine going forward. The Vikings will likely struggle to establish the run on Monday night, so we can expect this Bears secondary to lock in and shut down some lower-level Vikings wide receivers who might not even be in the NFL next season. Give me the Bears on the money line.

The Pick: Chicago Bears ML (+125)

Through the first 11 weeks of the NFL season, the under had gone 27-8 (77 percent) on nationally-televised primetime games. While the Oct. 15 matchup between these teams also hit the under in a 19-13 Vikings win, I think things will be different in this game. The Bears will have quarterback Justin Fields for the entire game, and Chicago’s offense will be clicking. Fields and wide receiver DJ Moore will be a great combination to watch over the remainder of the season. Although Minnesota has lost two injured stars in quarterback Kirk Cousins and receiver Justin Jefferson, the Vikings are still averaging 26 points per game with Josh Dobbs at quarterback. Even though the Bears’ defense is healthy and at full strength, Chicago still has to prove that it can stop opposing offenses. The fact that this team gives up an average of 26 points per game remains a glaring concern. Give me the over in this matchup that few people expect to be high-scoring.

The Pick: Over 43.5 (-110)

Best NFL Player-Prop Bets for Bears vs. Vikings: Monday Night Football Week 12

DJ Moore

A look at Bears wide receiver DJ Moore’s game log this season suggests that he has been very streaky and inconsistent. In Weeks 4 and 5, Moore put together back-to-back performances of more than 130 receiving yards. He then went five straight games with no more than 58 yards before rebounding for 96 last weekend at Detroit. Moore, however, isn’t the one to blame for his yardage dip, because quarterback Justin Fields was out with an injury for the entire five-game stretch. Fields’ absence crippled Moore’s success, because backup quarterback Tyson Bagent lacked chemistry with the Bears’ top receiver. With Fields now back leading the offense against a rather unimpressive Vikings secondary, look for Moore to feast on Monday night.

The Pick: DJ Moore over 61.5 receiving yards (-115)

Best Same-Game Parlay Week 12 bets today for Bears vs. Vikings: 3-Leg Parlay Pick (+750)

Passing TDs Bears quarterback Justin Fields has started seven games this season, although one was cut short due to injury. In two of those starts, Fields threw four touchdown passes. Take away the earlier Minnesota game in which Fields got hurt, and the Bears QB has thrown for at least one touchdown in all his starts. Fields goes up against a weak Minnesota secondary on Monday night, and there is too much value in this line to pass on Fields throwing at least two TD passes.

Leg-1 SGP Pick: Justin Fields 2+ Passing Touchdowns (+150)

DJ Moore I really love what I think Bears wide receiver DJ Moore should be able to do in this Monday night game. Quarterback Justin Fields is back under center against a Vikings secondary that hasn’t stopped anyone this season – although it’s worth noting that Minnesota has had to face some of the league’s best quarterbacks in 2023. While Fields might not be the NFL’s greatest passing quarterback, he's still good enough to find the best offensive threat on the field in Moore, and he will do so on Monday night. I not only love Moore to get over his line of 61.5 receiving yards, I also like him to eclipse 100 in this game. So, 90 or more just screams value.

Leg-2 SGP Pick: DJ Moore 90+ receiving yards (+250)

T.J. Hockenson With wide receiver Justin Jefferson expected to be out for at least another week, quarterback Josh Dobbs and the Vikings will look to tight end T.J. Hockenson again on Monday night. Hockenson has been this team’s No. 1 receiving threat with Jefferson sidelined. The Bears rank in the middle of the NFL pack when it comes to defending against opposing tight ends, so Hockenson doesn’t really have any particular edge or lack thereof in this game. Nevertheless, he will surely establish his presence. Give me Hockenson on an adjusted yardage line to reach at least 50 in this one.

Leg-3 SGP Pick: T.J. Hockenson 50+ receiving yards (-215)
