After trading their two best players before the trade deadline back in February, the Brooklyn Nets are feeling reborn. Despite losing Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, they were still able to secure the sixth seed in the NBA’s Eastern Conference playoffs. Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers come into the 2023 playoffs led by hungry MVP candidate Joel Embiid, who is looking for his first NBA championship.

Nets vs 76ers Injury Report

Apart from Brooklyn’s Ben Simmons, who’s out for the remainder of the season with a back injury, every other member of the Nets and all of the Sixers are expected to play in Game 1 on Saturday.

Nets vs 76ers Prediction

This Nets team has shocked the world. Many believed that after losing Durant and Irving, Brooklyn would completely fall apart and exit the playoff race. Instead, the Nets not only proved their critics wrong by making the playoffs, but they also avoided the NBA Play-In Tournament by securing the East’s No. 6 seed. They have drawn a tough first-round opponent in the Philadelphia 76ers and face a tough task stopping Sixers center Joel Embiid, who will have his way in this series. While many would predict a 4-0 Philadelphia sweep of this series, I think the Nets will steal at least one game.

Best NBA Same Game Parlay Picks Saturday for Nets vs 76ers - NBA Playoffs Game 1: 4-Leg Parlay Picks (+650)

Total Points

Ironically, the Nets’ first real game with their current roster came against the 76ers back in February. It was the literal debut of these new-look Brooklyn Nets, and they held their own against the 76ers. The Nets led by eight after a first half in which the teams combined for 112 total points. The second half --particularly the fourth quarter, when the Nets scored only 16 points – turned the game in Philadelphia’s favor, but it still was a barn-burner. This time around, expect a high-scoring Game 1 of this series. We won’t go with the total picked by the oddsmakers, but we’ll go with an adjusted total to start off our same-game parlay.

Leg-1 SGP Pick: Over 209.5 (-205)

Joel Embiid Scoring and Rebounding

Even though these new-look Nets gave the Sixers a tough game in their last matchup, they didn’t have an answer for Joel Embiid. The Philadelphia center had his way with Brooklyn, scoring 37 points on 12-for-18 shooting, along with 13 rebounds. Nets center Nic Claxton has held his own in matchups with other NBA bigs, but Embiid is on another wavelength. Embiid will dominate the entire series. Despite this key mismatch, I still expect the Nets to keep it competitive in most of the games, so the Sixers will really need Embiid to perform. Sixers head coach Doc Rivers will exploit the matchup all series, making it bully ball for Philadelphia in every game.

Leg-2 SGP Pick: Joel Embiid 45+ points + rebounds (-125)

Mikal Bridges Scoring

Since joining the Nets via a trade with the Phoenix Suns in February, Mikal Bridges has put up outstanding numbers and is averaging a career-high 26.1 points per game for Brooklyn. Nicknamed Iron Man because he has never missed a game in his NBA career, Bridges has found a home with the Nets. He not only led them to the playoffs, but he also managed to help keep them out of the NBA Play-In Tournament. Playing for Brooklyn, he has eclipsed 30 points 11 times and scored 40-or-more points three times. If the Nets want to remain competitive in this series, they will need Bridges to be on his A game.

Leg-3 SGP Pick: Mikal Bridges 30+ points (+170)

Spencer Dinwiddie Scoring and Assists

Spencer Dinwiddie, who spent five seasons with the Nets earlier in his career, has had a nice homecoming since returning to Brooklyn in a February trade with the Dallas Mavericks. While Bridges does most of the scoring, Dinwiddie still contributes as a true floor general for this Nets team. Since joining Brooklyn, Dinwiddie has registered 10 or more assists 12 times. Unfortunately, he’s already hearing criticism and doubt from the media. During Dinwiddie’s interview with FanDuel TV, Michelle Beadle informed him that Chandler Parsons gave the Nets no chance at beating the 76ers. While Dinwiddie acknowledged Parsons' opinion, he said he feels that -- outside of Embiid -- Brooklyn does match up well with Philadelphia. Expect a highly motivated Nets team sparked by a highly motivated Dinwiddie.

Leg-4 SGP Pick: Spencer Dinwiddie 25+ points & assists (-180)
