The Cleveland Cavaliers are back in the playoffs and find themselves there without LeBron James for the first time since the 1990s. The Cavs have transformed into a legitimate playoff team after securing Donovan Mitchell and Jarrett Allen, while nurturing the development of Darius Garland and Evan Mobley. Their goal now is a deep playoff run that begins with victory in their first-round series against the Knicks.

The Knicks outperformed expectations this season, too, and adding Jalen Brunson to the backcourt proved to be one of the year’s best moves. New York is looking for its first playoff series win since a 2013 victory over the Boston Celtics. The Knicks begin their quest with Game 1 on the road in Cleveland.

With both teams eager to get off to a fast start in what should be a very entertaining series, let's jump in with some NBA same-game parlay predictions for Game 1.

Knicks vs Cavaliers Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under – NBA Playoffs Betting Lines 4/15

Moneyline: New York Knicks (+190), Cleveland Cavaliers (-225)
Spread: New York Knicks +5.5 (-106), Cleveland Cavaliers -5.5 (-115)
Total: Over/Under 214.5 points

Knicks vs Cavaliers Injury Report

The Knicks are trying to work forward Julius Randle back into the lineup in the wake of an ankle injury that has kept him out of action for two weeks. Randle has not played since rolling his ankle in the paint during a March 29 game against the Miami Heat.

Randle seems eager to fight through the injury and play in Game 1. However, if Randle isn’t 100 percent healthy, it might not be in the Knicks’ best interest to play him against a very strong Cavs defensive unit.

Cleveland is dealing with a health concern of its own, because defensive forward Isaac Okoro has been out with a knee injury over the last two weeks. Okoro last played on March 26 and has yet to take part in team workouts. Currently, he is only doing individual shootarounds after practice.

Knicks vs Cavaliers Prediction

The Cavaliers have proven to own one of the best home-court advantages in the Eastern Conference this season, going 31-10 on their way to the fourth seed. Only the Bucks and the Celtics have a better home record this season, as those teams are both 32-9.

Although the Cavs enter this series as the higher seed, the Knicks actually outperformed them head-to-head during the regular season. New York won three of the four games between these teams, including a split of the two games played in Cleveland. While the Cavs boast one of the Eastern Conference’s best home records, the Knicks are one of the conference's best road teams.

The Knicks outrebounded the Cavs in all four of their regular-season meetings, but it’s worth noting that Cleveland center Jarrett Allen missed two of those games.

The Cavs should have an edge at home in Game 1, but this game feels a lot closer than the 5.5-point spread might suggest. The last game played between these two teams was just a couple of weeks ago, and New York won it in Cleveland without Julius Randle.

While Jarrett Allen has returned to the Cavs lineup, Okoro's availability is uncertain, and Julius Randle's status for the Knicks is also questionable. Despite this, the game is shaping up to be a closely contested matchup. Even if the Cavs emerge victorious, I don't see them winning by more than five points. With that in mind, let’s make some NBA picks and parlays for the first game of this series.

Best NBA Same-Game Parlay Picks Today for Knicks vs. Cavaliers - NBA Playoffs Game 1: 4-Leg Parlay Picks (+850)

Darius Garland Points

No team has allowed fewer points in the paint this season than the New York Knicks. They give up 45.9 points per game inside and have great depth defensively with their big men.

Isaiah Hartenstein has proven to be a valuable commodity in New York. Both he and Mitchell Robinson are going to make it hard for the Cavs to feed Jarrett Allen or Evan Mobley under the basket. As a result, Cleveland will look to kick out to its perimeter shooters and needs to shoot at a high percentage from midrange.

The Knicks allow over 36 shots from 3-point range per game, which is one of the NBA’s top five numbers, but they get out to the perimeter well in closing down shots off of assists. Given these factors, Cleveland’s Darius Garland will need to provide scoring both from 3-point range and off the dribble.

Garland scored at least 20 points in two of the three games he played against New York this season and averaged 20.9 in the month of March. The first pick of this NBA same-game parlay has the Cavs guard knocking down enough shots to cover the 20+ points line.

Leg-1 SGP Pick: Darius Garland 20+ Points (-165)

Donovan Mitchell 3-Pointers Made

Once again, the Knicks’ defensive ability inside will result in the Cavs taking a high volume of shots from deep. Donovan Mitchell is one of Cleveland’s highest-volume shooters from beyond the arc, taking at least nine threes in each of his last seven appearances.

The Cavs guards are going to need to show up if they want to take an early lead in this series, and that has me believing we’ll see 10 or more 3-pointers from Mitchell in Game 1. Considering the previously mentioned issues concerning the Knicks defense and Mitchell’s high-volume shooting, I have him sinking 4+ threes in the game.

Leg-2 SGP Pick: Donovan Mitchell 4+ Three Pointers (-150)

Jarrett Allen Points Total

Jarrett Allen will have an important defensive role in this game, but he won’t be a primary option on the offensive end. The Knicks do a good job of closing down bigs in the paint which, as mentioned, tends to result in a lot of kick-outs and shots from midrange.

Allen has averaged 14.3 points per game this season, but his average dropped to just 11.6 in March and he is at 10.3 over the small sample size of April. Given his downward trend in both shot attempts and points scored, I feel very good about him coming in under 12.5 against the Knicks.

Leg-3 SGP Pick: Jarrett Allen Under 12.5 Points (+100)

Spread Bet

I don’t believe Julius Randle’s absence affects the Knicks as much as some think it might. There are Knicks fans who would rather see him sit out, knowing the team can handle its business without him. The Knicks proved that in the last of the four 2022-23 regular-season games between these two teams.

A 6.5-point line is very heavy, and even though I feel good about the Cavs taking Game 1, winning it by seven or more is a long shot. I’m willing to bet against it in my NBA same-game parlay picks.

Leg-4 SGP Pick: New York Knicks +6.5 (-130)
