The Heat looked cooked, and they will be off for the rest of the summer if they do not pull off a miracle in Denver on Monday night in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, a series that the Nuggets are now -5000 to win on the Betway Board. “This is -- this is great competition. You know, I say that over and over, but this is what you want the Finals to be like.

“Our guys, when I say they have a competitive will, they love to compete. They love big challenges. They love to have everything out there in front of everybody to see between the four lines, and you play for it. You compete for it, and you decide it between those four lines.

“And this is a very compelling series. I think it's great for the fans out there because you're seeing some great, competitive basketball that doesn't necessarily fit into the conventional box, certainly their two guys and their team, and a thousand percent our guys.

“That's not the conventional way. But, you know, it can be done differently when it's about winning.”

Those sound like the words of a coach who knows he has the second-best team in this series. However, Spoelstra also had that against Milwaukee and Boston, and the object is to win four games, not three. No, things do not look promising for the Heat, who are getting nothing from starters Gabe Vincent and Max Strus. So, don’t be surprised to see Kyle Lowry take over as the starting point guard, and Duncan Robinson or maybe even Tyler Herro as the starting shooting guard when this thing resumes in Denver.

It is worth noting how Spoelstra closed his post-game news conference:

“They started to impose their competitive will on the game, and the game was more on their terms, more -- the tenor of the game was really more in their favor, and that's typically what happens when you're in the center of the ring, toe-to-toe. It's who can get who to blink; who can get who to have to adjust; who can get the game on their terms, and they were able to do that.

“But you know, we are fully capable of doing that as well.”

Kyle Lowry

The Heat brought this veteran in because of his championship experience, and his playing time increased to 33 minutes on Friday night as he posted a line of 13 points, seven assists and three rebounds. Gabe Vincent is not exactly killing it as Miami’s starting point guard, and Spoelstra is a guy who leans on veterans when needed. Given that he is in a do-or-die situation, we would expect to see even more of Lowry in Game 5.

Legs 2-3 SGP Picks: Lowry to score 15+ points (+400) and have at least eight assists (+675)

Bam Adebayo and Nikola Jokic

Both of these guys are going to double-double unless one or both get hurt. The parlay Is +8000 without these two additional legs, but we want y’all to be smiling at the office water cooler on Tuesday as you boast about your five-leg parlay that was boosted with a pair of sure things.
