After holding the 76ers to just 44 first-half points and playing tough despite their Game 2 loss at Philadelphia, the Nets return home to Brooklyn where they have a chance to play the spoiler role in front of their own fans. The Barclays Center will be rocking on Thursday night, as the Nets look to upset the 76ers and make this a series.

76ers vs Nets Injury Report

Apart from Brooklyn’s Ben Simmons, who’s out for the remainder of the season with a back injury, every other member of the Nets and all of the Sixers are expected to play in Game 3 on Thursday.

76ers vs Nets Prediction

The Brooklyn Nets had their chance in Monday night’s Game 2 when the 76ers had an awful shooting performance that limited them to 44 points in the first half. Brooklyn held Joel Embiid to just five shots in that half, but it won’t be the case again on Thursday night. Embiid will have a huge performance on the road that will be reminiscent of what he did at Barclays in February, when he had 37 points on 12-for-18 shooting. Hats off to Cam Johnson, who scored 28 points for the Nets in Game 2, but Brooklyn, whose post defense is struggling, doesn’t have an answer for Embiid or Tobias Harris. The 76ers will put the Nets on the ropes by taking a 3-0 series lead when Game 3 is all said and done.

I certainly understand the value of home-court advantage in the NBA postseason, but these two teams could play in my back yard, on a cruise ship, or even at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn (where they will play on Thursday night), and it still wouldn’t matter because the 76ers are just the superior team. Brooklyn’s best chance at stealing a game came on Monday night when the 76ers scored just 44 points during a first half in which they couldn’t hit water if they fell out of a boat. Joel Embiid is a pure mismatch, Tyrese Maxey is a legitimate scoring threat, Tobias Harris is another mismatch, and James Harden is a true floor general. The 76ers will win handily, so don’t overthink this one.

Leg-1 SGP Pick: Philadelphia 76ers ML (-205)

Joe Embiid Scoring and Rebounding

Joel Embiid playing against the Brooklyn Nets is one of the biggest mismatches I’ve seen in a long time. There are not two players that could match up against Embiid, let alone one. While his 20 points and 19 rebounds in Game 2 were impressive, I expect a performance more like the one he had against Brooklyn back in February (37 points and 13 rebounds). That blow-up game has yet to come. To this point, the 76ers haven’t truly needed Embiid because Maxey, Harris and Harden have held it down.

Leg-2 SGP Pick: Joel Embiid 40+ points + rebounds (-165)

Bridges Big Scoring Night

This series is personal for Brooklyn’s Mikal Bridges, a Philadelphia native who won two NCAA championships with Villanova. Bridges had a chance to play for the 76ers after they drafted him in 2018, but Philadelphia subsequently dealt him to the Phoenix Suns before the draft night was over. Bridges’ dream of playing for the 76ers was suddenly erased by his beloved hometown team. While his 30 points in Game 1 and 21 points in Game 2 were not bad performances, expect a bigger showing out of Bridges at home on Thursday night. He’ll do everything in his power to pull off the upset.

Leg-3 SGP Pick: Mikal Bridges 30+ points (+170)

Tucker for Three

P.J. Tucker, a 37-year-old journeyman, is going for another NBA championship with Philadelphia. Critics might question why Tucker is even on an NBA roster at this point, but it’s because he does the little things that don’t show up on the stat sheet. One thing Tucker does that isn’t so little is knock down corner 3-pointers. He was 2-for-5 from 3-point range in Game 1 but 0-for-4 from deep in game 2, Tucker will be good for at least one 3-pointer in Game 3.

Leg-4 SGP Pick: P.J. Tucker 1+ three pointers (-160)
