The Oklahoma City Thunder pulled off an underdog win against the New Orleans Pelicans to force themselves into a play-in final with the Minnesota Timberwolves, who lost in overtime to the Lakers earlier this week.

The two teams will now compete for the last available playoff spot in the NBA’s Western Conference in a winner takes all matchup. The winner will face the number one seed Denver Nuggets in a seven-game series in the first round of the playoffs. With everything to play for, let’s look at some NBA same game parlay picks today.

Thunder vs Timberwolves Injury Report

The Thunder were without Aleksej Pokuševski for Wednesday's game against the Pelicans, and he is looking likely to miss Friday’s play-in game too. The forward is out with a knee injury and without an estimated return date as of yet.

The Timberwolves will be without both Jaden McDaniels (hand) and Naz Reid who had surgery earlier this month to repair a fracture in his wrist. McDaniels fractured his hand earlier this week after punching the wall inside the tunnel out of frustration. As a result, he took himself out for the remainder of the Timberwolves season.

Thunder vs Timberwolves Prediction

The Minnesota Timberwolves won the regular season series between these two teams 3-1, but the two sides have not played each other since December.

The Thunder’s back court is going to be tough to handle for the Timberwolves, especially after losing Jaden McDaniels defensively. Unlike the Lakers, the Thunder have two high scoring guards in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Josh Giddey (who just combined for 63 points to take down the Pelicans).

The duo were 5-12 from three point range despite that not being their specialty, and each got to the line on multiple occasions after driving into the paint. The Timberwolves will likely have Rudy Gobert back which will help them protect the rim, but do they have the ability to defend both guards consistently enough to come away with the win?

The Thunder face a mismatch inside against the Timberwolves on the other side of the ball as well. They don’t have the bigs to cover Karl Anthony-Towns and Gobert and their small ball roster has resulted in the second most offensive rebounds allowed in the regular season this year.

The game should be an enticing back and forth encounter and could come down to the wire once again, just as these two teams endured in their previous play-in games.

Best NBA Same Game Parlay Picks Today for Thunder vs Timberwolves - NBA Play-In: 4-Leg Parlay Picks (+1039)

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Points Total

Shai has been one of the league's best scorers all season long. He’s consistently shown up for the Thunder and finished the regular season with an average 31.4 points per game, a significant jump from the previous year’s total at 24.5.

The Thunder guard has 31+ points in five of his last six appearances with the only exception being his last game of the regular season against Utah. Within those five 31+ point games he has two 39-point games against Phoenix and Indiana, plus a 33.5-point average for the Thunder in the month of March.

In both of Shai’s recent 39-point games he shot 17 free throws and hit 100% of them both times. He’s able to take over a game and drive into the paint for layups and his aggressive style often results in him getting to the foul line. The Timberwolves have given up the second most free throws per game this season behind only the Detroit Pistons, so there’s an area there for Shai to exploit.

His points line is set slightly above average at 33.5, but I still feel good about him clearing it. So I’m kicking off the NBA same game parlay with Shai cashing the over. His previous totals against Minnesota in the regular season were 32, 33 and 35.

Leg-1 SGP Pick: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Over 33.5 Points (-105)

Karl-Anthony Towns Points Total

The Thunder don’t play a traditional big man and that makes athletic bigs like Karl-Anthony Towns a mismatch for their current lineup.

Towns has played well since returning to the starting lineup in mid-March and is enjoying success both from three-point range and driving inside. He averaged 21 points per game in his first four games back in March and just put up 24 against the Lakers despite L.A. having a far better defensive unit against a player of his size.

With everything to play for against OKC and the Timberwolves playing at home, I’d expect to see a strong performance from one of the stars on their roster. KAT should net at least 24 against the Thunder.

Leg-2 SGP Pick: Karl-Anthony Towns Over 23.5 Points (-120)

Karl-Anthony Towns Rebounds Total

This one will depend on the status of Rudy Gobert, but with current rumors expecting him to return and play against OKC, I like the under for Towns rebounding.

KAT had 11 against the Lakers with Gobert out of the lineup but he rarely pushes past nine. In the eight regular season games he played after returning from injury he averaged eight per game, but that number was boosted by a 14-rebound night against the Brooklyn Nets. In every other game he had eight or less (barring one game in which he managed nine).

The Thunder allow more rebounds than any other team, but Rudy Gobert should consume the majority of those opportunities if he’s on the floor. With that in mind, I’ll take KAT to go under the 9.5 line currently set for him.

Leg-3 SGP Pick: Karl-Anthony Towns Under 9.5 Rebounds (-150)

Spread Bet

I’ll round out the NBA same game parlay predictions this week with a bet on the spread. The Thunder have been a good pick this year with a 45-34-3 record ATS in the regular season.

They’ve won their last three in a row against the spread including a margin of +10.5 in the Pelicans game in which they were a 5.5-point underdog and came out with the win.

The Thunder should keep this one close despite it being a road game. The differences in the two rosters give them a chance to win. Giddey and Shai will need to be in the same fine form they were in against New Orleans, and if they are, the Thunder should cover the 4.5-point line.

Leg-4 SGP Pick: Oklahoma City Thunder +4.5 (-110)
