Congratulations to everyone who had Klay Thompson costing himself $50 million by going without a bucket for the first time in his career on Tuesday night. Let’s just say it is a safe bet that his unrestricted free agency has lost a couple of suitors.

Thompson’s Golden State Warriors are now off for the summer, and another team will be joining them after the Chicago Bulls and Atlanta Hawks play in the nightcap of a Wednesday doubleheader on ESPN.

Heat vs 76ers Prediction and Pick

This will be Night 2 of the NBA Play-In Tournament, and on Wednesday we have Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers rested and ready to go up against the visiting Miami Heat, who played in this game a year ago and lost it -- yet nonetheless made it to the NBA Finals.

Keep that in mind as the playoffs continue, because NBA basketball is all about who is playing well in May and June. The Sixers are an interesting case because they have Embiid, who was running away with the MVP award race until he forced himself to play in a game that he shouldn’t have and aggravated a knee injury that needed to be fixed with a minor surgical procedure. Embiid returned and played in five games down the stretch, all of which were wins and one of which came against the Heat.

He is listed as questionable for Wednesday night, and there is no question that someone with a wry sense of humor is working on the Sixers’ injury-report desk. The best bet of the night (tipoff is at 7 p.m. ET) is that Embiid will be ready to go.

Best Same-Game Parlay Picks for Heat vs. 76ers: 4-Leg SGP Pick (+9000)

Joel Embiid, 3+ 3-pointers (+270)

We had to scrounge around the wagering menus for a while before we found this one, which is the best price on a Joel Embiid prop bet that we feel is likely to hit. Embiid had four 3-pointers in each of his last two games before the regular season ended, and he made three 3-pointers against the Heat on April 4. Prior to April, Embiid had made three 3-pointers only twice, which is why this one is pricing where it is. But the guy clearly spent part of his injury rehab time practicing shots from beyond the distance --evidenced by his 48.1 percent marksmanship this month.

SGP-Leg 1: Joel Embiid to make at least three 3-pointers (+270)

Tyrese Maxey, 10+ assists (+650)

Philadelphia’s Tyrese Maxey is going to win the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award, and he had 11 assists the last time the Sixers played the Heat. Yes, 11. That was out of the ordinary for the 23-year-old from Kentucky, who reached double figures in assists eight times during the regular season, although two of those times were in games against the Heat. Why shouldn’t he do it a third time? Has nobody ever heard of the expression “These things happen in threes?” This is a very good parlay-builder line, and if the Sixers are firing on all cylinders, they should win this game and move into a first-round series against the New York Knicks.

SGP-Leg 2: Tyrese Maxey to have at least 10 assists (+270)

Tyler Herro, 25+ points (+225)

We are staying away from Jimmy Butler in this game because he has been slumping in April, and he is not nicknamed “Play-In” Jimmy Butler but rather “Playoff” Jimmy Butler. His moment will arrive when it arrives, but that is likely next week. Instead, we are going with Butler’s Miami teammate Tyler Herro, who has averaged 21.0 points in April and scored 33 in a double-overtime victory over Atlanta on April 9 -- a game the Heat desperately needed. Last year, Herro broke his hand in Miami’s first game against Milwaukee and missed the remainder of the postseason. So, he has some lost time to make up for, and we expect him to summon 2022 Tyler Herro, when he had 25 points in Game 1 against Philadelphia.

SGP-Leg 3: Tyler Herro to score at least 25 points (+225)

Heat-Sixers over 208½ (-115)

The Heat went over in eight of their final nine regular-season games, including a matchup with Philadelphia in which the teams combined for 214 points. These teams combined for 232 points when they played on Christmas, and the big question that will determine if this one hits is whether the Heat will get the same type of balanced scoring effort they were getting from their starters and reserves when they ended the regular season with seven wins in their final 10 games.

SGP Pick 4: Heat-Sixers over 208½ points (-115)

Putting those four picks together produces a same-game parlay line of +9000, which would return $910 on a $10 wager and $9,100 on a $100 wager. Either option provides plenty of cheesesteak money. Good luck!
