The Boston Celtics clinched the No. 2 seed in the NBA Eastern Conference on Wednesday night with a close win over the Toronto Raptors. The win not only confirmed the Celtics will be the second seed for the playoffs, but also locked the Philadelphia 76ers in as the No. 3 seed.

With 52 wins, the Sixers can’t be caught by the Cleveland Cavaliers, nor can they catch the Celtics, who have 55 wins and an advantage in the head-to-head.

The Sixers are now almost certain to face the Brooklyn Nets in the playoffs’ first round, unless the Miami Heat somehow manage to win out and the Nets lose their two remaining games. If Philadelphia beats the Heat at home tonight, the Sixers will seal their own playoff picture by guaranteeing the matchup against Brooklyn. If the Heat win, there would still be a mathematical chance for Miami to claim the No. 6 spot and avoid the NBA Play-In Tournament.

At this point, it doesn’t look like the Sixers will rest their starters before the game begins, but there’s a chance they see limited action tonight since there isn’t much upside to their playing a lot of minutes. In blowout wins or losses, Doc Rivers tends to let his starters play for three quarters before pulling them out, and that could be the approach ahead of tonight's game.

Here at the end of the season, with most games affecting teams’ playoff hopes, placing NBA parlays can be tough. You’ll want to keep a close eye on matchups and lineups across the league. Also, make sure you know who’s got what to play for before placing any bets.

Point Spread bet

Tonight’s game is the Philadelphia 76ers’ last regular-season home matchup. Could that mean they will want to put on a show for the fans and set the tone for the playoffs rather than rest their starters and risk losing any momentum? Potentially. According to reports and the Ohio sportsbook, signs currently point toward Joel Embiid, James Harden and Tobias Harris all starting in this game.

Philadelphia has some injury concerns ahead of tonight’s game. Tyrese Maxey is listed as questionable due to a neck issue, while P.J. Tucker and De’Anthony Melton are in the same boat. Given that tonight's game will not affect the standings, it might not be wise to play anyone dealing with injuries. It will therefore be crucial to keep an eye on the starting lineups when they are released tonight.

Based on what we know right now, I expect to see the Sixers put on a show on their home court to make a statement before the playoffs begin. They can then rest their starters over the regular season’s final two road games, but tonight's game matters for multiple reasons.

First, it’s an opportunity for Philadelphia to assert dominance over an Eastern Conference rival and deny that rival a guaranteed playoff spot. Second, Joel Embiid is currently one of the favorites in the MVP race, and coming off his 52-point night against the Boston Celtics, it seems only fair to give him one more shot to prove why he deserves the award.

I have the Sixers winning this one and building a big enough lead to rest their starters into the fourth quarter, yet still cover the spread.

SGP Leg-1: Philadelphia 76ers -2.5 (-110)

Jimmy Butler Points Total

The Miami Heat have played well in their last two games and are trying to gather as much momentum as possible before a likely berth in the win-or-go-home NBA Play-In Tournament.

The Heat have found some scoring form after getting stuck in a rut of low-scoring performances that included a three-game stretch in which they scored 92 points against the Knicks, 92 against Toronto, and 100 against the Brooklyn Nets.

However, in their last two games, the Heat have scored 129 points against the Dallas Mavericks and 118 against the Detroit Pistons. Jimmy Butler turned in a big performance in both games, scoring a hefty 35 points against Dallas and 27 more against Detroit.

When the Heat need a spark, Butler is the answer. He will be the ball-handler down the stretch if the Heat find themselves with their backs against the wall in Philadelphia.

Butler does a great job getting to the free-throw line in close contests and has made 19 out of a possible 22 free throws over the past two games.

With their playoff position on the line, the Heat will give everything they’ve got tonight. That means a lot of Jimmy Butler and several free throws.

SGP Leg-2: Jimmy Butler over 25 points (-105)

Tobias Harris 3-Pointers Made

Several factors suggest Philadelphia’s Tobias Harris will drain a couple of threes tonight. One is the potential that either Tyrese Maxey or De’Anthony Melton – or maybe both players -- are rested due to minor injuries with the playoffs right around the corner. If they sit, Harris will climb the pecking order as a perimeter-shooting option.

In addition, the Miami Heat have allowed one of the NBA’s highest 3-point shooting percentages in recent weeks. Over the past 10 games the Heat are allowing a 39.3 percent shooting average from 3-point range, and their opponents have registered a per-game average of almost 36 shots.

Harris has hit only one 3-pointer over his last three appearances, and while this prediction does somewhat lean on Tyrese Maxey’s status for the game, NBA shooters never stay down for long.

I’m picking Tobias to see a lot more of the basketball tonight and take some good looks from three. Now I just need to see him make a couple of those shots.

SGP Leg-3: Tobias Harris Over 1.5 Three Pointers Made (-105)
