Best NBA Player Prop Bets for Today: 1/12

Joel Embiid

Joe Embiid has been posting MVP numbers yet again this season as he’s averaging 33.6 points, 9.9 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game as the 76ers sit in fourth in the Eastern Conference.

The 76ers and Embiid will look to continue their dominance against a weak Thunder team at home on Thursday night. Embiid will have another big performance as the Thunder’s 24th-ranked post defense will be no test for him and, if they do double him, he’ll have no problem dishing to his teammates - he has eight or more assists in a game four times already this season.

That's why I love Embiid’s player prop total for 35.5 points and assists tonight. In his past 10 games, Embiid has eclipsed this total seven out of the 10 times, so give me the over in this one.

The Pick: Joel Embiid over 35.5 points and assists (-110)

Ben Simmons

With no Kevin Durant for this contest and no Durant for a while, Simmons is going to have to start looking for his shot more. With Durant and Kyrie Irving, Simmons has been able to facilitate and focus on the defensive end of the floor. But that will change starting tonight as Simmons will have no choice to start scoring.

Simmons has attempted over 10 shots in just one game this season and he was 11-13 for 22 points, eight rebounds and five assists. I see Simmons around the 15-shot mark tonight and he doesn’t attempt threes, so his 59.2 per cent from the field on 15 shots, combined with his rebounds and assists, will equal a nice statsheet for Simmons tonight.

The Pick: Ben Simmons over 23.5 points, assists and rebounds (-110)

Donovan Mitchell

Donovan Mitchell has been on a tear this season, averaging 29.3 points, 4.3 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game. With multiple 30-plus point performances, a few 40-plus point performances and, most recently, a 71-point performance, Mitchell has been a scoring machine for the Cleveland Cavaliers this season.

He’ll now draw a middle-of-the-road Blazers defense that he torched for 34 points back in November in a 114-96 victory. Mitchell scored 46 points in the loss to the Utah Jazz on Tuesday night and will eclipse the 30-point mark for the 19th time this season on Thursday night.

The Pick: Donovan Mitchell over 27.5 points (-115)
