Best NBA Player Prop Bets Today: Thursday, 23rd February

Grizzlies vs 76ers Player Prop Bets Today

Tyrese Maxey

Tyrese Maxey has gotten hot in a hurry twice in his last four games for the Sixers. The young guard is taking more shots in the 2022-23 season than he was last year, despite seeing a slight decrease in minutes. Maxey averaged 13.3 field goal attempts and 4.1 three-point attempts last year while scoring 17.5 PPG. In 2023, those numbers are up to 15.6 FGA, 5.9 three-point attempts and 19.8 PPG.

Tyrese Maxey is instrumental in igniting the Sixers' offense, and he could play a crucial role in their strategy against the Grizzlies' speedy and potent offense.

The Grizzlies are among the bottom five NBA teams in terms of three-point attempts allowed, so if Maxey can sink a few in the first half, I would feel confident about the over in this game.

The Pick: Tyrese Maxey Over 17.5 Points (-115)

Warriors vs Lakers Player Prop Bets Today

Jordan Poole

The LA Lakers are the second worst team in the NBA for points allowed against opposition point guards. They have been leaking points against PGs all season. Despite D’Angelo Russell's significant improvement as a defender this season with the Timberwolves, Jordan Poole managed to score 29 points in a game where the Warriors struggled offensively just a few weeks ago.

Poole is averaging 26 points per game in the five games Steph Curry has missed in February, including a 38 point high against the Portland Trail Blazers and a 14-point slump against the Washington Wizards.

The Lakers rank sixth in the NBA for allowing 36.2 three-point shots per game, and they are among the bottom five teams in points allowed this season. While D’Angelo Russell may eventually improve their defense, I still believe that the high-volume point guard will perform well.

During their last match, the Warriors guard attempted 10 three-point shots against the Lakers and made three, so I am confident that he will hit at least 26 on Thursday night.

The Pick: Jordan Poole Over 25.5 Points (-110)

Nuggets vs Cavaliers Player Prop Bets Today

Nikola Jokic

Nikola Jokic is averaging 10.9 assists in February, including two 16-assist nights against the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Golden State Warriors. He’ll face the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night, who boast one of the league’s best records against opposition bigs, and impressive statistics when it comes to defending inside scoring.

The Cavs are one of the NBA’s most high-flying teams right now, and it’s largely due to their defensive mindset and ability to frustrate their opponents into low scoring nights. The Cavs allow a league low 106.1 PPG, as well as being No. 1 in opposition assists per game, giving up just 22.8.

Jokic is an exceptional passer, possibly the greatest we have ever witnessed among big men, but Cleveland is a challenging team to accumulate assists against. I like Jokic to land around seven or eight here, so I will be playing the under and putting my faith in the Cavs defense to keep doing what they do.

The Pick: Nikola Jokic Under 9.5 Assists (-133)

Spurs vs Mavericks Player Prop Bets

Kyrie Irving

This is easily my favorite player prop bet pick of the night. First off, a game against the San Antonio Spurs is a great opportunity to allow Kyrie Irving to get comfortable in his new jersey. He’ll get 35+ minutes and a whole lot of the basketball on the night.

Kyrie has started nicely in Dallas, averaging 28.3 points per game in his first four for the Mavs, as well as averaging seven assists in those games.

Up next for the Mavs is a game against the San Antonio Spurs, who currently hold the league's worst record in points allowed per game, with opposing point guards averaging over 25 PPG against them this season. Additionally, their backcourt is dealing with injuries, as Romeo Langford and Devin Vassell are still out. Considering the circumstances, it seems like an ideal opportunity for Kyrie to excel.

While I am optimistic about the points total, I am even more confident about the assists. This is because the Spurs have been allowing the second-highest number of assists per game in the league this season, and Kyrie has demonstrated a knack for finding Luka and Co. with his passes. I’ll take the trifecta, with Kyrie Irving having his best performance since the trade and clearing the points/rebounds/assists total.

The Pick: Kyrie Irving Over 35.5 Points, Rebounds and Assists Total (-115)
