SugarHill Steward has said he would be open to training Justin Bieber after the singer was called out by One Direction star Liam Payne.

Payne recently claimed he is ready to step into the ring if an opportunity arises, and said he doesn't believe Bieber would fight him despite the fact he is currently in training to star in a biopic about the life of Ukrainian-American fighter-turned-promoter Dmitry Salita.

Steward, best known for training world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, has now admitted he would be interested in helping to train Bieber if he does decide to step through the ropes.

"I would definitely have Justin Bieber in camp because Emanuel [Steward] was teaching Eminem, so it's no different," says Steward. "I like to teach and it doesn't matter who I teach at this point. I just like teaching, I enjoy it."

"I would be very open to not only teaching Justin Bieber how to box but teaching him how to knock guys out."

Steward also believes that Bieber would be right at home in the gym, with his hard work in the entertainment industry putting him in a good position to succeed in the sporting arena.

"I think he'd get on well [in the gym]," he says. "He's a successful entertainer so he's worked hard to get to this point. Being in camp would not be anything less than he's been doing his whole life.

"In my training camp we also have fun. It's about having fun. It will be hard work but it'll be fun. It's a family oriented gym."

The Detroit-based trainer did admit, though, that Bieber would do best to avoid his star pupil in the gym, but was open to him sparring with other professionals in his stable.

"I don't know about Tyson Fury but I've got some other world champions Bieber can get in there with. Definitely, Bieber can learn something from being in the ring and sparring with champions," says Steward.

"That's something we've always done growing up. We've had world champions boxing with pure novices, doesn't matter. It's not about beating them up, it's about teaching them. And at the same time the champion can work on something himself.”
