Lakers vs Knicks Predictions

The Los Angeles Lakers had the Boston Celtics on the ropes Saturday night as they ended up losing in overtime in a very controversial way. So controversial, in fact, that the NBA officials released a statement admitting to their missed call on Jayson Tatum that would’ve sent LeBron James to the free throw line and would’ve likely resulted in a Lakers win.

After resting their stars on Monday night, the Lakers will take on the New York Knicks in a must-win game as they look to get back on track, currently sitting 13th in the Western Conference. As for the Knicks, they’ve had a decent season, sitting at 7th in the Eastern Conference and three games above .500.

Anthony Davis is expected to play Tuesday night while James, who’s dealing with an ankle injury, may miss his second straight game. I’m leaning on the side that James plays in this game, and since the Lakers acquired Rui Hachimura from Washington, they’ve looked like a completely different team. Lonnie Walker IV is back from his injury and the Lakers are looking like a complete team. They had the Celtics beat on Saturday.

James plays, Davis returns and the Lakers roll in Madison Square Garden.

The Pick: Los Angeles Lakers ML (+125)

Clippers vs Bulls Predictions

It’s safe to say that the Chicago Bulls are the most inconsistent team in basketball. With the amount of talent that they have with Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic, they shouldn’t be at 23-26. They also shouldn’t be blowing so many second-half and fourth-quarter leads, or losing by double digits to the Charlotte Hornets either. But they are, and now they draw a Los Angeles Clippers team which remains fresh as they rest their superstars Paul George and Kawhi Leonard almost every other game.

With George and Leonard expected to go on Tuesday night, this game shouldn’t even be a contest as the Bulls just flat out stink. They have the talent but just can’t seem to put it together consistently for four quarters.

As for the Clippers, despite their rotation of new lineups and starters, due to rest days and injuries they remain consistent and tough defensively as they rank third in the NBA in points allowed per game. The Bulls have lost to too many inferior opponents this month, including a double-digit loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Indiana Pacers and, most recently, a double-digit loss to the Charlotte Hornets.

The Clippers are the fourth-highest scoring team in the fourth quarter this season and, if they don’t close this game out early, they’ll do so in the fourth.

The Pick: Los Angeles Clippers ML (-140)

Pelicans vs Nuggets Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - NBA Betting Lines 1/31

Moneyline: New Orleans Pelicans (+215), Denver Nuggets (-255)
Spread: New Orleans Pelicans +7, Denver Nuggets -7
Total: Over/Under 234 points

Pelicans vs Nuggets Predictions and Pick

Nikola Jokic is playing at an MVP level again this season as he’s averaging a triple double (9.9 assists but we round up). As a result, the Nuggets have the second-best record in the NBA at 34-16. They’ll now host a Pelicans team that’s starting to get healthy as Brandon Ingram returned a few games ago and will play Tuesday night.

The Pelicans have had a rough stretch and a rough month as they’ve lost nine of their last 10 games, including eight straight, and are 3-12 in the month of January. While most of that rough stretch has been due to injury, they did play Denver down to the wire last week as Jokic hit a floater with 16 seconds remaining that would lead Denver to a 99-98 victory. The Pelicans didn’t have Ingram in that game, so they’ll look to use that as motivation to get back on track Tuesday night.

This Denver team is the top dog in the Western Conference and have been nearly unbeatable this season, especially when they’re fully healthy. They’ve lost three of their last four games and will get back on track Tuesday night, but the Pelicans will keep it close in this one.

The Pick: New Orleans Pelicans +7 (-110)
