Favorites to win 2023-24 NHL Atlantic Division

The Boston Bruins won the Atlantic division easily last season as they dominated the regular season winning an NHL record 65 wins and 135 points. Their season ended shorter than expected as they were the Florida Panthers first victim in the playoffs losing in seven games. The losses of veteran David Krejci and Bruins captain Patrice Bergeron are going to be hard losses for the Bruins to overcome as both retired this offseason. While the Bruins will still have star wingman David Pastrnak who led the team in points and goals last season Krejci and Bergeron were both top five in points last season for Boston. The offseason for the Toronto Maple Leafs was a big one as there will be a different energy in Toronto and a more physical presence from them as wingman Ryan Reaves will set the tone. The Cinderella story of the Florida Panthers will restart this season as goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky, who had an awful regular season will continue where he left off in his dominant postseason. Let's dive into the NHL Atlantic Division odds and breakdown who will win the Atlantic Divisional crown.

2023-24 NHL Atlantic Predictions and Best Bets

The Toronto Maple Leafs showed a lot of promise and their fans had great expectations heading into the playoffs last spring, but like some other Eastern Conference favorites, they ran into the Florida Panthers. Losing to the Panthers 4-1 in the postseason’s second round certainly lit a fire under the Leafs, who return with an even stronger team for 2023-24. Adding big winger Ryan Reaves is huge for this Maple Leafs team that desperately needed a gritty, physical player who could set the tone in Toronto. They also added forwards Tyler Bertuzzi and Max Domi. Although this team didn’t get out of the second round last season, I sense that this year will be a revenge tour for the Leafs and expect big things out of Toronto this season.

The Pick: Toronto Maple Leafs (+185)

The Florida Panthers’ improbable run to the 2023 Stanley Cup Final really grew on me. While the Panthers were making playoff history, it seemed as though all the “experts” kept predicting that their run was about to end – but they kept proving those doubters wrong. With a whole offseason to reflect on their unlikely success, I think the team down in South Florida is eager to make it happen again. They’re returning all of their key players from last season, and if those players maintain their postseason momentum, we’re going to see this Panthers team dominate both the regular season and playoffs. Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky was a brick wall in net last spring. If he plays like that this season, the Cats will be bringing home more than the NHL Atlantic Division title.

The Pick: Florida Panthers (+500)
