Best NHL Player Prop Bets Today: Thursday, March 9

Patrick Kane

Patrick Kane has yet to score as a member of the New York Rangers, but trust me, his time is coming. When the Rangers face the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday night, that time could be now.

The Canadiens are one of the worst teams and defenses in hockey. They allow the fourth most shots on goal in the NHL, while Kane has had two or more shots in every game since January. Expect a heavy dose of Kane on Thursday night.

The Pick: Patrick Kane over 2.5 shots on goal (-175)

Bo Horvat

Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry has been going through it as of late. Allowing four or more goals in two of his last three starts has forced the Penguins offense to step up and complete overtime comebacks in both of those outings. While the Lightning was an acceptable four-goal game, the Columbus Blue Jackets getting four goals was completely unacceptable. Jarry will get the start on Thursday night and this New York Islanders team will be hungry.

As the Islanders look to continue their playoff push, with the Penguins and Islanders holding the last two wild card spots in the Eastern Conference, this game is pivotal for both teams. While Horvat has just one goal in his last five games, he has exceeded two shots on goal in each of those matchups, including seven shots on goal against Minnesota a few games ago. If Columbus could expose Jarry, this Islanders offense will too.

The Pick: Bo Horvat over 2.5 shots on goal (-125)

Nathan MacKinnon The Colorado Avalanche are making a case that they can defend their Stanley Cup victory this season and Nathan MacKinnon, who leads all Avalanche players with 76 points, is one of the reasons why. This offense really flows through him, so getting MacKinnon involved against this Los Angeles Kings defense and ace goaltender Phoenix Copley will be key.

While MacKinnon has been a problem for opposing defenses, especially as of late, getting six or more shots on goal in three of his last five games, getting to Copley will be much harder.

The Pick: Nathan MacKinnon under 4.5 shots on goal (-130)

Roman Josi

The Nashville Predators are currently on the outside looking in on the playoff race as they enter their matchup against the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday night. They’ll look for their points leader, Roman Josi, to lead the way and help lift them over an inferior Coyotes team.

Arizona, who’s already moved onto next season, allows the second most shots on goal to opposing offenses, which is great news for this Predators team. Josi, who’s had three or more shots on goal in every game except for one since January, will be ready to take advantage on Thursday night.

The Pick: Roman Josi over 3.5 shots on goal (-160)
