One of the advantages of betting hockey is that you can substantially increase the payout or reward on a team by simply picking them to win in regulation. While you do roll the risk of overtime, it’s low risk, high reward. For Thursday night’s slate I’m targeting four teams that I like to win in regulation and save us the overtime sweat.

Best NHL Parlays Today - March 9: 4-Leg Parlay Picks (+1129)

Dallas Stars vs Buffalo Sabres Prediction and Pick

In the only previous meeting between these teams this season, the Buffalo Sabres shocked the Dallas Stars on the road, winning 3-2 in overtime. It was a bad loss that would start a three-game losing streak for the Stars, but they would eventually recover.

When these two take the ice in Buffalo on Thursday night, the Stars will be wide awake and won’t let the Sabres stun them twice. Goalie Jake Oettinger will take the ice for the Stars and, while he’s been quite shaky, allowing four or more goals in three of his last seven starts, he’ll right the ship against Buffalo. While the Sabres do have one of the best offenses in hockey, they’ve been in a rut in the month of March as they’ve only exceeded two goals in just one game so far.

The Stars, who are 17-8-5 on the road, will show why they’re the best team in the Western Conference on Thursday night.

Leg 1 Parlay Pick: Dallas Stars (3-Way) (Excl OT) (+100)

New York Rangers vs Montreal Canadiens Prediction and Pick

When the New York Rangers acquired Patrick Kane from the Chicago Blackhawks, it was just what this already lethal team was missing. The Rangers have the defense and the elite goaltender in Igor Shesterkin, but their offense would disappear at times, which is why Kane, who has 45 points on the season, is the perfect add.

While the Rangers are starting to slip - they’ll enter Thursday night’s matchup against the Canadiens on a two-game losing streak - facing Montreal will be the perfect bounce-back scenario. With Montreal essentially out of playoff competition, the Rangers will just add salt to that wound on Thursday night.

While these two teams split their season series so far, the 2-1 loss to Montreal back in January was the result of poor offense from the Rangers. The Rangers offense will be firing on all cylinders on Thursday night.

Leg 2 Parlay Pick: New York Rangers (3-Way) (Excl OT) (-175)

New Jersey Devils vs Washington Capitals Prediction and Pick

The Devils and Capitals will have a Metropolitan showdown on Thursday night as the winner will take control as the season leader in their head-to-head matchups this season. While the Capitals did beat the Devils when they had backup MacKenzie Blackwood in, we credit that win with an asterisk as Blackwood is a huge drop off in talent compared to the Devils ace, Vitek Vanecek. When the Capitals faced Blackwood they scored six goals, and when they faced Vanecek later in the season they only scored once.

As the Devils look to take back first place in the Metropolitan division from the Carolina Hurricanes, Vanecek will take the goal on Thursday night and will assert his dominance yet again. With the Devils adding wingman Timo Meier from San Jose, it made a top-five offense just that much better.

The Devils will be too much for the Capitals and too much for the rest of their opponents this season as the Meier trade puts them in Stanley Cup contention.

Leg 3 Parlay Pick: New Jersey Devils (3-Way) (Excl OT) (+105)

Edmonton Oilers vs Boston Bruins Prediction and Pick

The Boston Bruins are the best team in hockey and it’s not even close as they’re still the only team that has yet to suffer double-digit losses this season at 49-8-5. The Oilers, who are 0-1 against the Bruins this season, will look to spoil the Bruins' current 10-game winning streak on Thursday night.

It’ll be a tall order for the Oilers, who struggled with backup goalie Jeremy Swayman in their first meeting and will now get the ace in Linus Ullmark. Swayman is certainly no slouch at 16-4-4 on the season with a .918 save percentage, but Ullmark has 32 wins on the season, a .938 save percentage and allows just 1.89 goals per game. He has allowed more than three goals just once this season and, when you add that in with the Bruins top five offense, it makes this Boston team nearly impossible to beat.

The Oilers and Connor McDavid are going to give it their all on Thursday night, but goalie Stuart Skinner could be in for a long night after he let a weak Canadiens team light him up for six goals a few weeks ago.

Leg 4 Parlay Pick: Boston Bruins (3-Way) (Excl OT) (-110)
