Things are not exactly hunky dory in Philly, where the 76ers have lost six in a row and learned Tuesday that they will be without reigning Most Valuable Player Joel Embiid for at least a month after he underwent a procedure on his left knee.
Tyrese Maxey is going to need to carry this team for the next month, as the Sixers have slipped to fifth in the standings and would drop even lower before Embiid returns if the Indiana Pacers can make up 2½ games. This means Philadelphia would have to open the postseason on the road, and all the 76ers can do between now and then is tread water.
The Warriors are coming off a victory in Brooklyn that saw Klay Thompson benched for the final seven minutes in favor of rookie Gui Santos -- a move coach Steve Kerr made with Thompson shooting career-lows of 41.5 percent overall and 37.1 percent from 3-point range. He has missed 37 of his last 49 attempts from behind the arc, so avoid him like the plague when gambling.
Warriors vs. 76ers Injury Report
Golden State’s Draymond Green is capable of a triple-double (+1600) if he plays, but he is listed as questionable with a right knee contusion, while Andrew Wiggins is probable with a left knee contusion. Chris Paul (fractured left hand) and Gary Payton II (left hamstring strain) are out. In addition to the Sixers’ Joel Embiid being sidelined with his knee injury, Philadelphia’s Nicolas Batum (hamstring), Robert Covington (bone bruise, knee), and De’Anthony Melton (back) are all out.

Cleveland is favored by 11½ points against a Wizards team that is expected to be selling off players by Thursday’s NBA trade deadline. Tyus Jones and Kyle Kuzma are the most likely to be dealt, followed closely by center Daniel Gafford. All are experienced and can help push an NBA playoff contender into the next echelon, with Jones ranking among the league’s best point guards in terms of the assists-to-turnovers ratio that all NBA teams value highly. The Cavs have been a machine as they have moved into second place behind Boston in the East, and we will be talking about them as legit championship contenders a lot more after they play the Celtics for the final time on March 5.
Cavaliers vs. Wizards Injury Report
The Cavs are not reporting any injuries to their regulars, while the Wizards will be without Marvin Bagley (lower back) and Isaiah Livers (lower back).

Kawhi Leonard has been especially effective and efficient recently, leading the Clippers in scoring in six straight games as the “other team” in El Lay has won nine of 10. Nobody on the Clippers’ roster is going to be tossing and turning Wednesday night wondering if he will be traded. The current hot streak has moved Los Angeles into first place in the West as this team seeks the first NBA championship in franchise history. New Orleans has won three in a row during a stretch of eight of nine on the road. They are listed as 7½-point underdogs because the Clips have been playing so well.
Pelicans vs. Clippers Injury Report
Zion Williamson is questionable for New Orleans with a left-foot bone contusion, and Naji Marshall is probable with a lower back contusion. The Clippers are not reporting any injuries.

Pistons vs Kings Preview

2023-24 NBA Regular Season Game
Detroit Pistons (4-23 Home, 2-20 Away) vs. Sacramento Kings (14-8 Home, 15-12 Away)
Date: Feb. 7
Time: 10:30 p.m. ET
Venue: Golden One Center in Sacramento, Calif.

The worst team in the NBA travels to Northern California on Wednesday while trying to get people to stop calling it the worst team in the NBA. Given the current state of the Memphis Grizzlies, the Pistons might have a valid argument. Detroit had posted victories in two of three before losing three in a row. The team is now embarking on what will be a five-game Western road trip prior to the All-Star break. Sacramento is coming off a lopsided loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers and is being watched as a team that could be active at the trade deadline -- perhaps trying to upgrade Keegan Murray or Harrison Barnes. The line favors Sacramento by 12½ points.
Pistons vs. Kings Injury Report
Detroit’s Bojan Bogdanovic (calf soreness) and Cade Cunningham (left knee injury management) are questionable, while center Isaiah Stewart (sprained left ankle) is out. Kings reserve forward Sasha Vezenkov is questionable with a right ankle sprain.
