Heat vs Celtics Preview – NBA Eastern Conference Finals 

Who is your pick for Eastern Conference Finals MVP and why? 
Jason Lloyd, Cleveland based writer for The Athletic: Jason Tatum won it for the Celtics last year and he’s my favorite to win it again.  

Tatum struggled at times against the Sixers, but when it mattered most he was the go-to guy for the Celtics and his effort at the end of Game 6, and what he did in Game 7, proved that. 

Against the Heat I don’t expect that to happen again and I think we’ll see a more consistent Tatum throughout the series. 

Who is your pick to win the series and why? 
Miami has the coaching edge — Erik Spoelstra might be the best coach in the league — but Boston has the personnel to guard Jimmy Butler.  

The Celtics have the type of switchy wings and perimeter defenders necessary to throw multiple looks at Butler and ultimately perhaps win a championship. 

Reality is, Boston matchup pretty well against the Heat. 

Who is the player you’d rather have leading your team in the playoffs: Butler or Tatum? 
If Butler is healthy, it’s hard to side against him. He’s fearless in big moments. But the Celtics have the deeper roster beyond the teams’ stars. 

As two of the deeper teams in the NBA playoffs, which team has the better supporting cast for their stars? Which role/bench players stand to make a big impact in the ECF?  
Kevin Love has championship DNA and is used to these big moments. He can be a weapon from deep and on the boards if his shot is falling.  

Robert Williams is expected to remain in the starting lineup for the Celtics and is a legitimate rim protector inside. Williams’ move into the starting lineup helped bring the Celtics back from the brink of elimination against Philly. He can be a weapon against the Heat. 

Will this series’ winner win the NBA title? How would they match-up vs. the Lakers/Nuggets? 
The Celtics match up well against both Los Angeles and Denver. Miami would likely struggle against either. Nobody has an answer for Nikola Jokic but the Celtics’ athleticism on the perimeter can make life difficult for any opponent.
