The better team still trails the NBA Eastern Conference finals 3-2. Yes, the Celtics are the better team. They did not look that way in Games 1, 2 and 3, but what we have seen over the past several days has solidified the notion that the Celtics, who went to the NBA Finals a year ago, are deeper and more talented than the eighth-seeded Heat.

This notion is reflected in what we are seeing from the oddsmakers, and it is reinforced by the injury news regarding the Heat, who were without Gabe Vincent in Game 5 and had to rely on a gimpy Kyle Lowry as their starting point guard. They are already without Tyler Herro and Victor Oladipo.

So it is going to be Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo and … fill in the blank, y’all. And they are going to go up against a rejuvenated Celtics team with three top-tier players in Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart, who remembered that defense was their calling card and they needed to start playing that card again.

“We doubled down at what we’re good at on defense, and now I think it’s a series,” Brown said.

Vincent (ankle) was listed Friday as questionable.

The Heat had a nine-point lead in the third quarter of Game 4 but allowed runs of 18-0 and 12-0. Then, Game 5 began with the Celtics opening a 20-5 lead. Only three NBA teams have ever come back from an 0-3 deficit to force a Game 7, and none have won that Game 7. Boston could be the first, but the Celtics still have to get through Saturday in Mami, and let’s not forget that these Heat players knocked off a Milwaukee Bucks team that was the Eastern Conference favorite in Round 1. In other words, Saturday is definitely not a movie night, y’all.

Best Celtics vs Heat Player Prop Bets Saturday for Game 6 on May 27

Because we expect this to be a defensive battle, our parlay strategy is going to reflect that presumption quite a bit. The Heat got only 44 points from their starters on Thursday. Their best offensive players were reserves Haywood Highsmith, Duncan Robinson, and Caleb Martin, and nobody even posed prop bets for Robinson or Highsmith.

So let’s start with Miami’s No. 1 threat.

Kevin Love

Playoff Jimmy is entitled to an off night, but there comes a point where carrying a team on one’s shoulders for a month leads to burnout. He is +350 to score Miami’s first points, but the thinking here is that coach Erik Spoelstra will want to attack down low right away, and Boston will be prepared for that. So that means Adebayo may have to pass out of a double-team, and the guy we like to get the first Heat check (pardon the pun) is Love, who was brought in for exactly this type of situation. Make a side bet with your buds that it is a corner three.

Leg-1: Love to score Miami’s first field goal (+900)

Bam Adebayo

Miami’s big man has only one double-double in this series. He had two against the Bucks in the first round and two against the Knicks in the second round, and he may be scheduled to play all 48 minutes (53 if there is overtime). It is critical that he is productive, so we like this one despite what we said about defense, simply because of the workload we expect him to have.

Leg-2: Bam Adebayo to double-double (+110)

Jayson Tatum

This is going to be a legacy game for this young man, and he is better than many people are willing to acknowledge. He put up 21 points, 11 assists, and eight rebounds on Thursday night, and while a triple-double is certainly a possibility, we are going to keep it safe one notch below. The guy had double-doubled in four straight games.

Leg-3: Jayson Tatum to double-double (-245)

Best NBA Same-Game Parlay Picks Today for Celtics vs Heat Game 6: 3-Leg Parlay Picks (+1900)

The thing about this particular wager is that you will know whether it is a dud or has a very good chance as soon as Miami scores its first bucket. But what we want you to do here is think like Spoelstra. He needs something special from someone who has not done much special since he arrived in Miami after the Cavs bought him out, and an opening bucket from Love will inspire the other role players on the Heat. Spoelstra needs to create a scenario where four or five other guys know right away that this will not be a Jimmy Butler-or-bust game. Yes, this is a leap-of-faith pick, but if the Love part of the wager hits in the first quarter, this +1900 wager is going to be very much in play. If someone other than Love hits the first shot? Well, that’s gambling folks. And your best gamble is to have a good time watching this one, win or lose. Every now and then you need a hunch pick. Love is the key to this particular hunch.
