Best Bets NBA Christmas Games 2022: Odds, Picks and Predictions
76ers vs Knicks Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under – Christmas Day NBA Betting trends
Moneyline: Philadelphia 76ers (-130), New York Knicks (+110)
Spread: Philadelphia 76ers -2, New York Knicks +2
Total: Over/Under 219 points
76ers vs Knicks Predictions and Pick
These two teams met back in November and it took everything the Knicks had to beat the 76ers 106-104. A 37-point second quarter and a 12-point rally in the fourth helped New York complete the comeback and the pull off the victory.
The 76ers played that game without center Joel Embiid and guard James Harden, and yet had the Knicks on the ropes as they entered the fourth quarter up 12. While the 76ers will be without guard Tyrese Maxey, who scored 31 points and had 7 assists in that game, they’ll have their two superstars back and ready to go.
Even though the spread suggests this game will be close, I’m sorry, Knicks fans, Santa Claus isn’t bringing you guys a victory on Sunday. Hopefully he’ll bring you something to cover your eyes with, because with Embiid and Harden back, this game will be out of reach.
The Pick: Philadelphia 76ers ML (-130)
Lakers vs Mavericks Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - NBA Betting Lines 12/25
Moneyline: Los Angeles Lakers (+250), Dallas Mavericks (-300)
Spread: Los Angeles Lakers +7.5, Dallas Mavericks -7.5
Total: Over/Under 226 points
Lakers vs Mavs Predictions
No Anthony Davis for Christmas Day certainly puts a damper on this matchup between the Lakers and the Mavericks. It also makes this a harder task for the Laker's offense as they’ll have to find other ways to attack the Mavericks. Dallas, which allows 109.5 points per game, ranking sixth in the NBA, has a weak spot in its defense, and that’s around the basket. The Mavericks rank 17th in post defense, and with Davis, the Lakers have scored the second-most points in the paint in the NBA. Without Davis, the Lakers have been middle of the pack, unsurprisingly so as Davis is one of the best bigs in the league.
While the Mavericks’ defense is great, their offense disappears at times as they rank 22nd in points per game. The Lakers still have LeBron James and forward Thomas Bryant has certainly stepped up in Davis’ absence, averaging 17.5 points to go with 7.7 rebounds per game. While Luka Doncic is playing at an MVP level for the Mavericks this season, they are just giving too many points in this one. Bryant will give the Lakers enough post-production and James will shine on Christmas day to keep this game competitive at the very least.
The Pick: Los Angeles Lakers +7.5 (-110)
Grizzlies vs Warriors Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - NBA Betting Lines 12/25
Moneyline: Memphis Grizzlies (-180), Golden State Warriors (+155)
Spread: Memphis Grizzlies -4.5, Golden State Warriors +4.5
Total: Over/Under 231 points
Grizzlies vs Warriors Predictions and Pick
This was set to be one of the best matchups on Christmas day before Warriors star Steph Curry went down with a shoulder injury. The table was set for this rematch of last year’s Western Conference semi-finals and one of the newest rivalries in the NBA.
But Curry’s absence isn’t changing the hunger the Grizzlies have for this Christmas Day matchup.
“[It pisses me off] a little bit. I hope [Curry] plays, though,” Brooks said. “But I got Klay [Thompson]. I like that matchup a little better because he was talking a little smack before when we lost.”
The Warriors are expected to get Andrew Wiggins back after a nine-game absence with a groin injury, and should have the rest of their team ready to go outside of Curry, so they’ll still be competitive. But Memphis will be out for blood.
The Grizzlies are also expected to have Desmond Bane back from a toe injury that kept him sidelined since the second week of November. The Warriors will have their home crowd behind them, but they’ll have nothing to cheer about come midway through the third quarter as the Grizzlies should have full control of the game by then.
The Pick: Memphis Grizzlies -4.5 (-110)
Suns vs Nuggets Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - NBA Betting Lines 12/25
Moneyline: Phoenix Suns (+120), Denver Nuggets (-140)
Spread: Phoenix Suns +2.5, Denver Nuggets -2.5
Total: Over/Under 231 points
Suns vs Nuggets Predictions and Pick
The last matchup of Christmas Day should be a ‘get your popcorn ready’ type of game, with several superstars on hand. The Suns’ Devin Booker will be back from a groin injury, while Christmas Day will be the second game back for the Nuggets’ Michael Porter Jr, so some of his rust will be knocked off by then.
Both these teams are top-10 in points per game and are nearly identical, as the Suns average 115.7 compared to the Nuggets’ 115.4.
The last time these two teams played close to full strength was back in March of last year, and they combined for 270 points, with each team scoring at least 30 points a quarter outside of the Nuggets’ 24-point fourth quarter. This will be a fully-loaded superstar matchup and it’s the perfect game to end Christmas Day with. Get ready for a lot of scoring in this one and give me the over.
The Pick: Over 231 (-110)
