Thunder vs Jazz Player Prop Bets

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

While several of the teams playing tonight are likely to rest starters, two teams who certainly won’t be taking their foot off the gas are the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Utah Jazz. The Jazz have three games remaining and are presently trailing both the Dallas Mavericks and the Thunder by two games. However, they have a chance to reduce that margin tonight to just one game with two games left to play.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continues to be a prolific scorer for the Thunder, with five 30+ point games in his last six appearances. He had back-to-back games against both the Phoenix Suns and the Indiana Pacers with 39 points and 17-of-17 from the free throw line.

When it comes to driving to the paint and initiating contact, SGA is among the top guards in the league, and he has a success rate of over 90 per cent in making free throws when he does get to the line.

With everything to play for tonight between the Jazz and the Thunder, I’m expecting to see the basketball in Shai’s hands as much as ever. The Jazz allow an above average 24.3 rebounds per game and are in the top three teams in the league for field goal attempts allowed per contest as well.

Utah are heavily impacted by injuries right now, with Collin Sexton, Jordan Clarkson, Lauri Markkanen, Walker Kessler and Rudy Gay all out with various levels of injury.

The Jazz are allowing over 28 points to opposition point guards through the last couple of weeks, good for the third highest number in the league, and many of those are not the volume shooters that Shai is. He has a big opportunity tonight in a crucial matchup for his team, so I’ll be taking the over on his 32.5 points line.

The Pick: Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Over 32.5 Points (-110)

Ochai Agbaji

Sticking with the same game, Ochai Agbaji will have a big opportunity on the opposite end of the floor with so many of the Jazz starters already confirmed out for the game.

The rookie guard has really impressed this season and earned plenty of minutes in the second half of the NBA calendar, and continues to show improvement game after game.

Over his previous two games, Agbaji has been averaging 33 minutes per game, maintaining a 46 per cent field goal percentage, and sinking three three-pointers along with 4.5 free throws on average, all of which were made with 100 per cent accuracy from the foul line.

Agbaji’s ability to get to the line and shoot free throws is one of the most noticeable things about his development, particularly in the last couple of weeks. Early in the season he was reluctant to drive and force contact but has now earned nine free throws in the last two games and made every one of them. The Thunder are one of the league’s most charitable teams in giving up free throws and Agbaji can benefit from that greatly in tonight's game.

Not only that, the young Jazz guard is shooting an average 7.5 threes per game in the last two, making 40 per cent of those shots. He has confidence in pulling up for a deep shot and will have the freedom to do so tonight against a lower end defensive team in the OKC Thunder.

The Pick: Ochai Agbaji Over 15.5 Points (-105)

Blazers vs Spurs Player Prop Bets

Malaki Branham

There should be plenty of freedom to put up shots in this one. The Portland Trail Blazers have pulled the entire starting lineup in recent games, and we won't see Damian Lillard, Anfernee Simons, Jerami Grant, Jusuf Nurkic, Cam Reddish, Nassir Little and several other role players in tonight's game.

Even Shaedon Sharpe is listed as questionable and Matisse Thybulle doubtful.

The Spurs have their own injuries to contend with as their rebuilding regular season winds down, but one player who will be on the floor tonight is Malaki Branham.

The youngster is showing a lot of promise and maturity on a bad team this season. He’s very effective from mid-range, showing a strong ability to get to his spot and hit pull up jumpers time and time again. His shot from deep is developing well and he takes good looks from the three-point line when they present themselves.

The former Ohio State Buckeye has hit 15+ points in each of his last six games, including two 21-point performances against Utah and Phoenix. With a bare bones lineup for the Blazers tonight, Branham should once again see plenty of good looks and clear his points total as a result.

The Pick: Malaki Branham Over 15.5 Points (-120)
