Best NBA Expert Picks Against The Spread Tonight: Odds, Picks and Predictions for Tuesday, March 28

Celtics vs Wizards Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - NBA Betting Lines 3/28

Moneyline: Boston Celtics -700, Washington Wizards +475
Spread: Boston Celtics -11.5, Washington Wizards +11.5
Total: Over/Under (224.5) points

Celtics vs Wizards Prediction and Pick

The big question going into tonight’s game is whether Jayson Tatum will be back in the Celtics lineup after a hip contusion forced him to miss his team’s last game against the San Antonio Spurs.

In all likelihood, the San Antonio game served as a rest for Tatum before a two-game road trip that includes a big matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks. Even without their star forward, the Celtics had no trouble against the rebuilding Spurs, as Jaylen Brown scored 41 points on an efficient 18-for-29 shooting night.

Derrick White also continues to offer a high-percentage option, having gone 4-for-6 from 3-point range in a 19-point performance on Monday. The Celtics guard had a slow start to March from behind the arc, but he has found his rhythm again after his brilliant February run.

The Celtics now face the Washington Wizards on the road after reclaiming second place in the Eastern Conference from Philadelphia. The Wizards have lost five of their last six, with their only win coming against San Antonio. Washington has not covered the spread as an underdog since a March 8 game against Atlanta.

I expect to see Tatum back in the lineup, while the Wizards are without both Bradley Beal and Kyle Kuzma, who have already been ruled out of tonight’s game. Boston is currently an 11-point favorite, and while the spread is heavier than it has been in recent games for the Wizards, Washington’s lack of scoring options tonight will be a major factor.

My only concern here is that a blowout might result in the Celtics sitting their starters in preparation for the Milwaukee game on Thursday. I’m avoiding a Jayson Tatum player prop for exactly that reason, but I’ll take the risk with the spread, as Boston has prevailed in four of its last five games ATS.

The Pick: Boston Celtics -11.5 (-110)

Heat vs Raptors Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - NBA Betting Lines 3/28

Moneyline: Miami Heat +125, Toronto Raptors -150
Spread: Miami Heat +3.5, Toronto Raptors -3.5
Total: Over/Under (219.5) points

Heat vs Raptors Prediction and Pick

The Miami Heat will play in Toronto tonight after a missed opportunity against the Brooklyn Nets in their most recent game on Saturday. The Heat are on par with the Nets -- fighting over the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference. Despite being a 5.5-point favorite, Miami got blown out by Brooklyn in losing 129-100.

Miami let the Nets shoot wide-open threes far too often, eventually allowing 18-for-40 shooting from deep -- a 45 percent showing by Brooklyn. The Heat gave the ball up 12 times, compared to the Nets’ six turnovers. They were also outmatched in just about every category, including a 13-point rebounding differential.

Losing to Brooklyn was incredibly disappointing and could be crucial to Miami’s position in the playoff hunt. Bouncing back from that against the Raptors tonight will be pivotal. The question is whether Miami can get it done.

The Raptors, currently at ninth place in the East, could close to within two wins of Miami with a victory tonight.

Toronto is a high-volume team, shooting the league’s third-most field goals over the past five games. That said, the Raptors’ 3-point percentage during that stretch has been poor. Toronto has made just 10.8 threes per game for a 33.1 percentage that puts them just outside the NBA’s bottom five.

Miami has had one of the worst-performing defenses in the NBA since the All-Star break, making errors across the board with miscommunication and a lack of perimeter defense outside Jimmy Butler and Caleb Martin.

I’m not sure Miami’s problems can be solved quickly enough to rescue this season, and they certainly don’t look like they will be making a run. The poor performances, paired with a road game in Toronto, favor the Raptors here. Miami is 15-21 on the road and has lost four of its last six. I have a feeling we could come away from tonight’s game with even more reasons to wonder what is wrong with the Heat.

The Pick: Toronto Raptors -3.5 (105)

Pelicans vs Warriors Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - NBA Betting Lines 3/28

Moneyline: New Orleans Pelicans +310, Golden State Warriors -400
Spread: New Orleans Pelicans +8.5, Golden State Warriors -8.5
Total: Over/Under (234.5) points

Pelicans vs Warriors Predictions and Pick

The Golden State Warriors have been the favorite in each of their last five games, but they have lost two of those and failed to cover the spread in three. That includes their most recent game against the Timberwolves on Sunday. They lost to Minnesota 99-96 despite having been a 5.5-point favorite prior to tip-off.

Warriors superstar Steph Curry has only cleared 30 points once in his last five games, shooting below 35 percent from the floor twice -- against the Memphis Grizzlies and on Sunday against the Timberwolves. Last Wednesday, Curry played the distributor in a win over Dallas with 13 assists and a 20-point night. However, the Warriors are struggling to blow teams away with their 3-point shooting and offensive momentum. Without that, they won’t look ready for a deep playoff run anytime soon.

The Timberwolves are playing good defense and have beaten both Golden State and Sacramento in recent weeks. Their performance played a role in the Warriors’ woes on Sunday, but time is running out for Golden State to find its rhythm again before the postseason, and tonight’s matchup against the Pelicans doesn’t bode well for the Warriors.

New Orleans is allowing just 29.9 percent shooting from 3-point range over its last five games -- good for second in the NBA despite being on the higher end in terms of yielding 3-point attempts. The Pelicans have led the NBA during that same stretch by allowing opponents the fewest rebounds, and they have given up the league’s fewest points per game at 97.4. In fact, New Orleans is the only NBA team that has given up an average of fewer than 100 points per game over its past five. That statistic is not a good one for the Warriors right now.

I love the Pelicans against the spread tonight, so I’m happily hammering the +8.5. I think they have a good chance of winning it, too.

The Pick: New Orleans Pelicans +8.5 (-110)
