There will be a big game in the NBA Eastern Conference tonight when the third-place Philadelphia 76ers travel to Cleveland to face the fourth-place Cavaliers. This game is perhaps the most interesting of tonight’s slate when it comes to putting together same-game parlay picks.
The Cavs return to Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse having won back-to-back games over the Hornets in Charlotte and will now face one of their closest Eastern competitors. The Sixers have won five in a row and are well-rested, having gone without a game since Sunday.
This matchup in Cleveland marks the first of a three-game road stretch for the Sixers, who will visit the Hornets and Pacers in the coming days. Doc Rivers' team is looking to close the gap on the second-place Boston Celtics, who are currently two games ahead, although Philadelphia has two games in hand on Boston. A loss to the Cavs would give the Sixers and Cleveland the same total number of wins, but the Sixers would still have four games in hand on Cleveland.
With just one month left until the NBA playoffs, which of these two Eastern giants will come out on top tonight? Let’s look at this matchup and put together an NBA same-game parlay for this game.
Best NBA Same Game Parlay Picks Today for 76ers vs Cavaliers on March 15th - 3 Legs Parlay Picks (+567)
The Sixers enter this game as a 2.5-point favorite -- likely for a couple of reasons.
First, the Cavs have been without center Jarrett Allen since March 11, when he suffered an eye injury against the Miami Heat. Donovan Mitchell also sat out the Cavs’ second game against the Hornets, and both are considered day-to-day.
Second, The Cavs have played twice already this week since the Sixers last took the floor against Washington. While Cleveland might be more comfortable back at home, the Sixers are going to be far better rested going into the game.
I find myself leaning heavily toward the Sixers in this one, despite the Cavs’ defensive prowess. Evan Mobley will have a lot of work to do if Jarrett Allen is in fact out tonight. While the young star is a very capable defender, the Cavs can’t afford to have him get into foul trouble trying to guard Joel Embiid in the paint.
I have the Sixers covering the 2.5-point spread. They’re 3-2 in their last five, including a win against the Milwaukee Bucks when they were five-point underdogs. Philly has the momentum right now.
Leg-1 SGP Pick: Philadelphia 76ers -2.5 (-110)
Joel Embiid Points, Rebounds & Assists
Joel Embiid is currently averaging 36.7 points per game in March -- his highest monthly total of the season so far. When it comes to tonight’s same-game parlay predictions, he’s one of my favorites.
The Cavs are one of the NBA’s most impressive teams defensively this season, as Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley have formed one of the best 1-2 punches in the league. One of the two is always on the floor, which has frustrated Cleveland opponents all season. However, with Allen potentially sidelined, there’s a chink in the armor that Philly could look to exploit.
There is only so much any team can do to guard Joel Embiid, and he’s coming into this game in great form. He’s averaging over 43 combined points and rebounds this month, so I feel good about taking the over on 45.5 points, rebounds, and assists.
The Sixers are 3-2 on covering the over in their last five games, with the two unders coming because they kept both the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Washington Wizards under 100 points.
Philadelphia and Cleveland are both among the NBA’s top three teams in fewest points allowed this season. They regularly stifle opponents to win without needing to score more than 110 to 115 points. Neither team builds its offense around a fast tempo or getting shots off quickly. In such an important conference matchup, that could be even more necessary.
Considering all of these factors – both teams’ defense, Jarrett Allen and Donovan Mitchell potentially being sidelined, and the overall importance of this game -- I’m going to back the under to round out today’s NBA same-game parlay.
