Washington Nationals to beat Atlanta Braves

The Nationals lost the first game of this series on Tuesday night, but they had won four in a row prior to that defeat and should bounce back here.

Washington is 8-6 at home this season, while Atlanta is 6-9 on the road and has lost four of its last five games overall.

Erick Fedde gets the start for the Nationals after a strong showing against the Toronto Blue Jays last week, in which he allowed one run on two hits and three walks across six innings.

He faces Max Fried, who has struggled badly so far this season. The lefty has an 11.45 ERA after three starts so far, and he’s coming off his worst performance yet, giving up seven runs on nine hits in just four innings against the Miami Marlins.

Chicago Cubs to beat Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers are in a shocking slump, losing 12 of their 16 games since a 13-2 start to drop to 17-14 for the season.

The defending World Series champions lost both games in a doubleheader against Chicago on Tuesday, and the Cubs look a good value play once again here given that they’ve won four of their last six contests and are 10-7 at home this season.

The Dodgers should have the pitching advantage with ace Walker Buehler on the mound, but they’ve lost the last two games that the right-hander has started. He’s also coming off his worst start of the season so far, having given up five runs on seven hits in 6.1 innings against the Cincinnati Reds.

Buehler takes on Adbert Alzolay, who is 1-2 this season with a 4.71 ERA but gave up just two runs on four hits in six innings last time out against the Braves.

Cleveland Indians to beat Kansas City Royals

The Indians have won both games of this series so far to make it seven wins from nine.

Kansas City, meanwhile, has lost five of its last seven contests and is now just a game ahead of Cleveland in the AL Central.

The Indians have the edge on the mound, too. Their starter, Shane Bieber, is 3-2 this season with a 2.76 ERA and has been very consistent across his six starts to date.

The Royals’ Brady Singer is 1-3 with a 3.09 ERA and was forced to exit with a heel contusion in his last appearance against the Minnesota Twins last Friday.

San Diego Padres to beat Pittsburgh Pirates

With this three-game series tied at 1-1, expect San Diego to come out on top in the decider behind starter Yu Darvish.

The right-hander has been lights out in his first season with the Padres so far, going 3-1 with a 2.13 ERA across six starts. He’s allowed exactly one run in each of his last five starts, and has had nine strikeouts or more in each of his last three.

He faces JT Brubaker, who is 2-2 with a 2.63 ERA but is coming off his worst performance of the season to date. He allowed three runs on seven hits in five innings against the St. Louis Cardinals last Friday and has now picked up the loss in back-to-back games.

Given that the Padres have gone 7-4 across their last 11 games, in contrast to the Pirates losing five of their last six, this should be a routine victory for San Diego.
