Florida Panthers vs Toronto Maple Leafs Player Prop Bets

Auston Matthews

The Toronto Maple Leafs’ 2-1 win in overtime against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday ended their first-round series drought, enabling the Leafs to reach the playoffs’ second round for the first time since 2004. Center Auston Matthews, who scored the lone regulation goal for the Maple Leafs, was a crucial factor for his team all season and in the opening playoff round. Matthews recorded five goals and four assists in Round 1, so look for him to continue his dominance in the second round against an eager Florida Panthers team trying to prove that their upset of the Boston Bruins was no fluke. In the Leafs’ four regular-season matchups with the Panthers this season, Matthews had at least four shots on goal in all four games and exceeded 4.5 shots on goal twice. While he only eclipsed that number twice in the opening round vs. Tampa Bay, he’ll now go against a Panthers defense that’s allowing the most shots on goal this postseason at 35.57 per game. Look for Matthews to set the Game 1 tone for his Maple Leafs, who continue their quest for Lord Stanley’s Cup.

The Pick: Auston Matthews over 4.5 shots on goal (-110)

John Tavares

Center John Tavares returned Toronto to the playoffs’ second round for the first time in 19 years on Saturday night, scoring the overtime goal that finished off the Tampa Bay Lightning. Tavares, who had a hat trick during the Leafs’ 7-2 win in Game 2, played a key role for Toronto in Round 1. While he was quiet against the Panthers during the regular season -– scoring just one goal in four games -- expect Tavares to continue to build off his amazing first-round performance when he takes the ice for Game 1 vs. Florida on Tuesday night. The Panthers’ first-round series upset of the Bruins was impressive, but their Cinderella story ends in Toronto.

The Pick: John Tavares over 3.5 shots on goal (+130)

Seattle Kraken vs Dallas Stars Player Prop Bets Jason Robertson

Winger Jason Robertson was relatively quiet in the playoffs’ first round -- tallying two goals and adding five assists against the Minnesota Wild. Despite his decreased scoring output, Robertson, a 46-goal scorer during the regular season, found other ways to be effective. He was aggressive in the offensive zone and had at least four shots on goal in four out of six games against the Wild. He’ll face a tougher defense against the Seattle Kraken in Round 2, however, since Seattle allowed the NHL’s second-fewest shots on goal during the regular season at 27.01 per game. The Kraken defense suffocated the Colorado Avalanche numerous times in Round 1 and will look to do the same in Game 1 vs. Dallas on Tuesday night. Look for Robertson to lead the charge for Stars, who will want to capitalize on home ice.

The Pick: Jason Robertson over 3.5 shots on goal (-110)

Jason Robertson

Normally, I stick to one player and one prop, but after seeing Robertson not measure up to his own standards in the opening round, I sense his value for Game 1 of the second round. Robertson is the engine of this Stars offense, having led the team in goals and points this season. While I expect him to be aggressive on Tuesday night, I also expect him to make the right decisions, which is why the value on him to record an assist in this game is just too good to pass up.

The Pick: Jason Robertson over 0.5 assists (+100)
