The Tampa Bay Lightning and Winnipeg Jets have their backs against the wall as they enter what could be their final 2023 postseason games on Thursday night. It’s a true win-or-go-home scenario for both teams, who currently trail their series 3-1. Meanwhile, the cross-river metro-area rivalry between the New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils is tied at two games apiece, and that series looks like it might go the full seven games. Let’s dive into what promises to be a great night of postseason hockey on Thursday.

Tampa Bay Lightning vs Toronto Game 5 Maple Leafs Prediction and Pick

With a 4-1 lead heading into the third period, the Tampa Bay Lightning were 20 minutes away from making this series 2-2 on Monday night. The Lightning were absolutely dominating the Maple Leafs at both ends of the ice, and it was looking like a replay of last year when these two met in the first round. However, the Maple Leafs didn’t quit and went on to score three unanswered goals in the third period. That silenced the home crowd and sent the game to overtime, where Toronto scored the game-winning goal. A win on Monday night would have guaranteed a Game 6 at Amalie Arena in Tampa. Now the Lightning’s backs are truly against the wall, and they will have to get a big road win in Toronto on Thursday for there to be a sixth game. While home ice does have its advantages, the Lightning were head-and-shoulders better than the Maple Leafs on Monday night. Yes, they did choke, but I just can’t forget how much better they looked. The Maple Leafs are favored in this game, and rightfully so, but the Lightning will recreate what they did in Game 4’s first 40 minutes for all 60 minutes on Thursday night. Tampa Bay will play the spoiler and bring the series back to Florida.

Leg-1 Parlay Pick: Tampa Bay Lighting ML (+125)

New York Rangers vs New Jersey Devils Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - NHL Playoffs Betting Lines 4/27

Moneyline: NY Rangers (+100), NJ Devils (-118)
Spread: NY Rangers +1.5 (-264), NJ Devils -1.5 (+200)
Total: Over/Under 5.5 goals

New York Rangers vs New Jersey Devils Game 5 Prediction and Pick

The New York Rangers looked like they were going to run away with this series after stealing both games on the road to open it. However, since these teams’ two arenas are just 13 miles apart, neither is truly playing “road games” in this series. The Rangers collapsed in returning to Madison Square Garden for Games 3 and 4. Center Jack Hughes has had an amazing series for the Devils so far – scoring a goal in three out of four games and creating problems for the Rangers defense. The Rangers’ offense was the difference-maker in Games 1 and 2 -- scoring five goals in each of those games. If the Rangers want to get back to winning, they’ll have to turn their offense around and focus on slowing down Hughes. Rangers winger Chris Kreider will also have to rediscover the offensive touch that enabled him to score two goals in each of the first two games. While Kreider did add a goal in Game 3, he only had one shot on goal. Look for Kreider to be more aggressive -- much like he was in the first two games -- and look for the Rangers to key in on Hughes, because he’s the engine of this Devils offense. The Rangers will get back on track Thursday night with a win.

Leg-2 Parlay Pick: New York Rangers ML (+100)

Winnipeg Jets vs Vegas Golden Knights Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - NHL Playoffs Betting Lines 4/27

Moneyline: Winnipeg Jets (+145), Vegas Golden Knights (-175)
Spread: Winnipeg Jets +1.5 (-170), Vegas Golden Knights -1.5 (+130)
Total: Over/Under 5.5 goals

Winnipeg Jets vs Vegas Golden Knights Game 5 Prediction and Pick

The Winnipeg Jets grabbed the final Western Conference wild-card playoff spot on the strength of stout defensive play, which saw the Jets allow opponents the NHL’s 10th-fewest goals during the 2022-23 regular season. Fast forward to the playoffs, and Winnipeg is now allowing the fifth-most goals per game. Apart from Game 1, when the Jets pulled off an upset by winning 5-1, Winnipeg hasn’t held Vegas to less than a goal for more than two periods, and the Golden Knights have scored 14 goals over the past three games. Leading the series 3-1, Vegas will look to close it out at home on Thursday night. That’s exactly what they will do. Golden Knights goaltender Laurent Brossoit has played all four games in this series and has played well outside of Games 1 and 3. The key for Vegas has been its offense, which currently ranks fifth in the NHL for postseason goals. Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck looked great on paper in Game 1, but that had a lot to do with Vegas putting only 17 shots on goal. Since Game 1, the Golden Knights have been far more aggressive -- firing 39, 48 and 30 shots on goal over their past three games. Look for Vegas to continue that aggressiveness on Thursday night. The Jets defense won’t have an answer for it, and the Golden Knights will close out this series in five games.

Leg-3 Parlay Pick: Vegas Golden Knights ML (-175)
