With the Omicron variant creating havoc for the NHL, cross-border games have been delayed until after the Christmas holiday, which alongside certain teams being shutdown already, thins the number of games available on the schedule considerably. With two games left on the schedule for Tuesday, let’s try to get some good bets to consider.

Alex Ovechkin to score anytime (-120)

The Great Eight has slowed down a bit recently. His shooting percentage has dropped back into the reasonable level for his career at 15.2 per cent, but he’s still a scoring threat every single game.

Ovechkin is failing to score in games more often than at the beginning of the year, but against a defensively messy team like the Philadelphia Flyers, he’s going to get a lot of opportunities.

Tampa Bay Lightning to defeat Vegas Golden Knights (+115)

While the Lightning and Golden Knights have both coped very well with injuries this season, Las Vegas just got dealt another rough one after finally looking healthy, with Mark Stone out day-to-day. Stone is arguably their best player, so it’s a huge blow.

One of the best stories for Vegas this season has been the play of Max Pacioretty, who has been astonishing offensively, but has now been held without a goal for three straight games and has lost his main playmaker in Stone.

The Lightning, meanwhile, just keep chugging along and don’t seem to care that Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point haven’t played since the first week of the season and November 20th, respectively. That, plus the play of Andrei Vasilevskiy, should allow the Lightning to take this one.

Max Pacioretty to score anytime (+125)

Speaking of Pacioretty, he’s in his first slump of the season, but he’s been such a consistent scorer that he will likely find a way to make an impact on the score tonight.

As the main focal point of the Golden Knights’ offense at the moment, Pacioretty will need to step up against another contending team in what could be a preview of this season’s Stanley Cup Final. Considering how well he’s played this year, it shouldn’t be surprising when he does.

Alex Killorn to score anytime (+195)

The easy choice here would be Steven Stamkos, but Killorn’s physicality and touch near the net is important for the Lightning, and with the Vegas defense focusing more on mobility than physicality, I think his presence will be felt in this one.
