There’s under two weeks left in the 2021-22 regular season for the NHL, and the best teams aren’t letting up as they push hard right to the end of the season. The Florida Panthers have won 10 straight, and the Colorado Avalanche have won nine straight. The Avalanche have the advantage at the moment for the President’s Trophy, but that gap is entirely due to being better at the shootout. If we see a rematch of the 1996 Stanley Cup Final, who do you think comes out on top?

William Nylander to score anytime vs Philadelphia Flyers +150

After getting his 51st goal in his most recent 50 games, Auston Matthews has gone ice cold on a relative scale. After a stretch of 21 goals in 16 games, failing to score just twice in that span, Matthews has gone three games without lighting the lamp, and then was held out of Sunday’s game with a minor injury.

Luckily for the Leafs, while Matthews recovers and gets himself ready for the playoffs, Mitch Marner and William Nylander have both scored three times in four games. Based on their production so far this season, Nylander will get you the better return on investment should he light the lamp, but honestly betting on one or both of them to score against the sad sack Philadelphia Flyers is not a bad idea.

Over 6.5 total goals in Florida Panthers vs New York Islanders -115

The Panthers are currently +99 in goal differential including shootout results, significantly ahead of the rest of the league, and not just this year. Looking at full 82-game seasons, the highest mark in goal differential in the last decade was the Boston Bruins at +84 way back in 2013-14, and only five teams have been over +80 since the 2004-05 lockout, two of them being in 2005-06.

The highest mark in the salary cap era remains the 05-06 Ottawa Senators, who are the only team to record a goal differential greater than +100 at +103, and the Panthers are on pace for +108 right now.

The Panthers are both incredible overall and wildly entertaining to watch, something that hasn’t been uttered about that team in its entire history, I would wager. The Islanders are still capable of playing great defensive hockey, but I don’t think they can hold the fort against this team.

Vladimir Tarasenko to score anytime vs Boston Bruins +155

The St. Louis Blues aren’t one of the league’s top tier competitors for the Stanley Cup, but they’re absolutely scorching hot right now with nine straight wins, and they’ve outscored expectations all season long.

Vlad Tarasenko has been scoring like he’s 24 years old lately, with eight goals in his last five games, and against a team like the Bruins, he’s going to have to be his absolute best if the Blues have any hope of extending their incredible winning streak.

Tim Stützle to score anytime vs Vancouver Canucks +260

While Stützle may be rightfully drawing ire across the league for his diving shenanigans, he has been lighting the lamp constantly over the last little while. The irony that Stützle was called out for his penchant for embellishing while he was actually injured remains very funny, but watch him for a little bit and you’ll see how obvious it is that Brendan Gallagher was right about how much embellishing is part of his game.

While you may not like it, Stützle’s diving helps him to draw calls consistently, more than almost anyone else in the league, and then he makes fans of opposing teams even angrier by being pretty excellent on the powerplay.

Will that act last forever? Probably not, refs eventually catch on and stop believing players who pull that stuff, but for now it’s a big reason why he’s a successful hockey player. The guy has five goals in his last three games, don’t doubt him.
