On a Saturday full of pretty heavy mismatches, in order to get some good return on your hard-earned dollars, you’re probably better off looking at some decent bets on player props than outright wins and losses. With that in mind, let’s look at which players appear to be cooking with fire coming into the weekend.

Leon Draisaitl to score anytime vs Winnipeg Jets -115

The Oilers are rolling under new head coach Jay Woodcroft, winners of four straight games, but it was a bit of a cold start for superstar Leon Draisaitl under the new regime. Three games without scoring is a long time for one of the best players of his generation, but Draisaitl finally got back to his usual self and scored two against Anaheim on Thursday evening.

He loves to score in bunches, so expect him to get right back on the scoresheet against the Jets.

Under 5.5 total goals in Boston Bruins vs Ottawa Senators -110

Without two thirds of their top line, the Boston Bruins have been struggling to create offence. The Senators without Drake Batherson have been hit and miss on that front as well, and the Bruins have some pretty excellent goaltending between the pipes.

The Bruins are the heavy favourites to win this one, but expect it to be pretty similar to the last time these two met, where Boston eked out a 2-0 victory.

Andrew Mangiapane to score anytime vs Seattle Kraken +150

With the addition of Tyler Toffoli to the Calgary Flames roster, Mangiapane has been shifted down a line in terms of responsibility. Normally that means a scoring dropoff, but the line of Blake Coleman, Michael Backlund, and Toffoli are very clearly a high-end, power-on-power line that can match up against the opponents’ best and still chip in the odd goal. Mangiapane was doing just fine on that line, but playing with Sean Monahan and Dillon Dube now, his responsibilities have been simplified to scoring against overmatched competition.

Playing a secondary scoring role to the Johnny Gaudreau line, Mangiapane has been lethal all season, but he’s especially hot right now, scoring five goals in his last five games, and six in his last seven.

William Nylander to score anytime vs St. Louis Blues +160

While Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner have been tearing it up lately for the Maple Leafs, the duo of William Nylander and John Tavares have been a little quiet.

That hasn’t really stopped the Maple Leafs from being consistently in the win column, they’ve won eight of their last 10 games, but it does start to sow seeds of doubt about the high-octane Leafs scoring their way out of trouble.

Tavares has gone seven games without scoring, sitting at 17 goals on the season, while Nylander has gone eight games without scoring, also sitting at 17 goals on the season. Of the two, I think Nylander is more likely to break the slump, because he’s actually getting pucks to the net pretty frequently. Tavares has shockingly been held without a shot his last two games.
