Best NHL Player Prop Bets Today: Tuesday, January 24th

Sidney Crosby

The Pittsburgh Penguins will look to get their season back on track Tuesday night as the month of January has been one to forget for them. Dropping six of their 10 games in January has seen Pittsburgh fall in the standings. They’ll look to regroup against a middle of the road Florida Panthers team that’s been good in past seasons but has been wildly inconsistent this season. Leading scorer and superstar Sidney Crosby will look to get his team back on track Tuesday as not only do I think he’ll score in this one but he’ll get a lot of good looks against this Panthers team that allows the 24th most shots on goal in the NHL. Crosby has had seven shots on goal in his past two outings and only saw one go in the back of the net. After scoring against a top five Devils defense on Sunday expect another big game out of Crosby on Tuesday night.

The Pick: Sidney Crosby over 2.5 shots on goal (-120)

Kevin Hayes

Kevin Hayes has really come on strong this month for the Philadelphia Flyers as he’s shaping up to be one of their best goal scorers and point scorers. He scored his first career hat-trick against Anaheim last week and got two goals in their most recent outing against Winnipeg.

In a tough matchup against a good Los Angeles Kings goalie in Phoenix Copley, Hayes will need to bring his A-game in this matchup. Outside of one game so far this month, Hayes has had at least two shots on goal per game, and has had three or more shots nine times this month.

Hayes will be involved heavily on Tuesday night as the Flyers aim to play spoiler on their home ice.

The Pick: Kevin Hayes over 2.5 shots on goal (-130)

Vitek VanecekThe New Jersey Devils are one of the best teams in the NHL this season and are third defensively in goals per game and shots on goal per game. One of the main reasons for all of that success above has been the stellar play of Vitek Vanecek in goal. Vanecek ranks fourth in the NHL amongst goalies in goals allowed per game and has two shutouts this season. He’s undefeated in January and will look to continue that streak on Tuesday night against Vegas. While this Vegas team is no slouch, Vanecek has been amazing this year and in a game that I see being a low scoring affair, Vanecek will be one of the main reasons for it. In Vanecek we trust.

The Pick: Vitek Vanecek under 2.5 goals against (-140)

Clayton Keller
The Arizona Coyotes will draw the worst defense in hockey at home on Tuesday night. This is great news for their leading scorer Clayton Keller, who’s coming off of his second career hat-trick and looks to continue his scoring production on Tuesday night.

In a game where Keller will get a lot of looks, I love his shots on goal prop here. In the month of January, Keller has had at least two shots on goal in every game besides one, and has exceeded three shots on goal six times.

He’ll now face a Ducks team that allows the most shots on goal in the NHL, so give me Keller’s over in this one.

The Pick: Clayton Keller over 2.5 shots on goal (-140)
