Best NHL Bets Today – Tuesday, Jan 24: Odds, Picks and Predictions

Kings vs Flyers Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - NHL Betting Lines 1/24Moneyline: Los Angeles Kings (-145), Philadelphia Flyers (+120)
Puck line: Los Angeles Kings -1.5 (+175), Philadelphia Flyers +1.5 (-205)
Total: Over/Under 6 goals

Kings vs Flyers Prediction and Pick

As it would be expected for a team just below .500, the Flyers have been up and down this season. When they win, they look great, but when they lose, they looked awful. Inconsistency is the best way to describe their season.

That’s been the opposite word to describe Kings goalie Phoenix Copley, who’s been dominant as he enters Tuesday night’s matchup with a 13-3 record, allowing 2.79 goals per game.

The Flyers' 2.77 goals per game is 27th in the NHL and, while the Kings defense isn’t stellar, Copley is. The Kings are night and day when Copley is in goal compared to his teammate Jonathan Quick, who’s 8-11-4 and allows almost a goal more per game. Copley will lock down the goal and the Kings will squeak a few in on Carter Hart, who’s yet to have a shutout this season.

The Pick: Los Angeles Kings ML (-145)

Golden Knights vs Devils Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - NHL Betting Lines 1/24

Moneyline: Vegas Golden Knights (+145), New Jersey Devils (-175)
Puck line: Vegas Golden Knights +1.5 (-175), New Jersey Devils -1.5 (+150)
Total: Over/Under 6.5 goals

Golden Knights vs Devils Prediction and Pick

January has been a month to forget for the Vegas Golden Knights as they’ve lost five of their nine games so far, including an embarrassing 4-1 loss to the Arizona Coyotes on Sunday. Things won’t get easier as they’ll face a New Jersey Devils team on Tuesday night that is one of the best teams in hockey.

With both teams having their ace in goal, Logan Thompson for Vegas and Vitek Vanecek for New Jersey, I expect this to be a hard fought low scoring game. Now, just cause it’ll be low scoring doesn’t mean that this game won’t provide entertainment, because that’s not the case, as we’re going to see some of the best hockey on display at the Prudential Center on Tuesday night.

The Pick: Under 6.5 (-120)

Capitals vs Avalanche Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - NHL Betting Lines 1/24

Moneyline: Washington Capitals (+135) Colorado Avalanche (-160)
Puck line: Washington Capitals +1.5 (-190), Colorado Avalanche -1.5 (+160)
Total: Over/Under 6 goals

Capitals vs Avalanche Prediction and Pick

Capitals goaltender Darcy Kuemper was a critical piece of the Colorado Avalanche’s Stanley Cup run last season. Outside of giving up five goals in a 6-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning, Kuemper really held his own in goal against a high-powered team.

Kuemper has had similar production for the Capitals this year and, while he’s having a down month in January, returning to the place where he won his first ever Stanley Cup will be just what he needs to get back on track.

Forward T.J. Oshie will be back for the Capitals and Alexander Ovechkin, who missed Saturday’s 6-2 loss to Vegas, was skating at practice on Monday and is expected to return.

The Avalanche are riding a five-game winning streak in which they’ve been dominant, but the Capitals play spoiler on the road as Kuemper will hold down the goal defensively while Oshie and Ovechkin help their goalie play spoiler on his return to Colorado.

The Pick: Washington Capitals ML (+135)

Ducks vs Coyotes Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - NHL Betting Lines 1/24

Moneyline: Anaheim Ducks (+120) Arizona Coyotes (-140)
Puck line: Anaheim Ducks +1.5 (-210), Arizona Coyotes -1.5 (+180)
Total: Over/Under 6.5 goals

Ducks vs Coyotes Prediction and Pick

This game is shaping up to be an absolute shootout as both of these teams rank towards the bottom in every defensive category. When it comes to shots on goal, the Ducks allow the most in the NHL, with the Coyotes not too far behind them in third. While the Ducks also allow the most goals per game, the Coyotes are slightly better as they allow the sixth most goals per game in the league.

I must warn you, though, while their defenses are dreadful, their offenses are as well. When it comes to scoring goals, the Ducks are the worst team in the NHL, and Arizona are 30th.

While both offenses have been bad, they’ve gotten some promise out of their young guns as the Ducks' 22-year-old Trevor Zegras is on a five-game point streak and had the sixth multi-goal game of his career on Saturday in a 6-3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres. As for the Coyotes, 24-year-old Clayton Keller had the second hat-trick of his career on Sunday with his first career treble coming last month against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Shots on goal and opportunities will come quite easily, so while both of their offenses have been a tough watch this season, bad defense will lead to good offense in this one.

The Pick: Over 6.5 (-110)
