T.J. Watt | EDGE | Pittsburgh Steelers (+7500)

The reigning Defensive Player of the Year is joint-favorite to go back-to-back in 2022, and is worth a wager despite the short odds.

In a career-best year in 2021, Watt equalled the NFL record for sacks with 22.5 despite missing two games through injury.

He has now led the NFL in sacks – the statistical category that has most heavily determined the winner of this award in recent years – for two seasons running, as well as leading the league in tackles for loss and quarterback hits.

Watt is simply the best pass rusher in the league right now and is showing little sign of slowing down, so there’s no reason to think he can’t win a second straight DPOY.

Micah Parsons | EDGE | Dallas Cowboys (+100)

Parsons was the unanimous Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2021, and finished second in the voting for Defensive Player of the Year after a very impressive first year as a pro.

The Cowboys linebacker finished the season with 13 sacks, 20 tackles for loss and 30 quarterback hits, all good enough for top-six in the NFL.

That sets the stage for a huge sophomore season for Parsons, who will be the main man in a very solid defensive unit in Dallas.

Should he improve on those numbers from last year, Parsons will surely again be in the mix for DPOY come the end of the season.

Maxx Crosby | EDGE | Las Vegas Raiders  (+1600)

If you’re looking for a longer shot, Crosby is another who looks set for a big season in 2022.

The Raiders defensive end is developing into one of the best pass rushers in the NFL, but continues to go under the radar.

Crosby led the league in QB pressures (82) and hurries (53) in 2021, although that only translated to eight sacks, which partly explains why he remains unfancied in this market.

Those sacks will surely come at some point for Crosby, and that is likely to be sooner rather than later, so backing him for a big season in 2022 makes sense.
