Giants vs Eagles Preview

The Philadelphia Eagles may have won both regular season matchups against the New York Giants, but Big Blue will get their shot at redemption on the road this Saturday night in the divisional round of the playoffs. The Giants have far surpassed any pre-season expectations, and head coach Brian Daboll has turned the franchise around far quicker than anybody might have imagined.

Daniel Jones is playing the best football of his career, Saquon Barkley has returned to top form, and the Giants defense is gaining recognition despite a lack of elite players during a rebuilding phase.

The Eagles may have the bye week in their favor, but the Giants knocked out a Minnesota Vikings team that’s been scoring on teams all season long. They successfully limited Justin Jefferson to 47 receiving yards and kept him out of the end zone, securing a rematch against their NFC East rivals.

Giants vs Eagles Predictions and Picks – NFL Divisional Round

I have reservations about the Giants’ secondary, despite their successful efforts to neutralize the threat posed by Justin Jefferson and the Vikings. The Eagles present a much greater challenge, and it will be a challenge for them to contain all the different threats they possess.

The Giants have had a successful season and with the addition of draft picks and free agents, combined with the continued development of Daniel Jones and Brian Daboll's coaching strategy, they could be a formidable team next season. This time out, they’re coming up against the leagues very best, and a team that already has all the pieces in every position. The Eagles roster is constructed to win a Super Bowl right now, while the Giants are technically in the early stages of a rebuild.

I think Philadelphia pull away in the game having suffocated the Giants offense, and ultimately cover the spread.

The Pick: Philadelphia Eagles -7.5 (-110)

I can see the Eagles scoring 30 here. They averaged just over 28 points per game in the regular season and they have all their weapons ready to go.

The Giants played a good game against the Vikings number one receiver, but they still gave up 24 points. In this game, if the Eagles score 30 points, can the Giants reach 20? I believe it's possible, but Daniel Jones must have a mistake-free game and minimize turnovers.

I’ll back the over, with both teams scoring points and the Eagles clearing the 30-point mark.

The Pick: New York Giants vs Philadelphia Eagles Over 48 Points (-110)

Best NFL Player Prop Bets Divisional Round Today: Giants vs Eagles

Best Eagles Player Prop Bets Today

This is the easiest player prop I’ve chosen in a while. Devonta Smith has cleared 100 receiving yards four times in his last six games. The other two were against the Giants, and Smith had 64 and 67 yards in those two games. So perhaps the Giants do a better job of containing Smith than some of the other teams he’s faced, but that still doesn’t steer me away from picking the over here for the Eagles wideout.

He has been performing well towards the end of the season, and the over for his receiving yards at 60.5 provides great value in the player prop markets.

The Pick: Devonta Smith Over 60.5 Receiving Yards (-115)

The Giants will struggle in the red zone against this Philly defense, but they’re going to need to take points when they come their way. Graham Gano is an interesting pick here for that reason. The Eagles are a top ten team in red zone defense, and the Giants might find themselves having the door shut in their faces in the pursuit of touchdowns.

Graham Gano has scored 7 or more points in four out of the Giants' last five games, and it is likely that he will have a productive game on the road against the Eagles. Two field goals and one extra point conversion would exceed the over, so I’m backing that here.

The Pick: Graham Gano Over 6.5 Kicking Points (+110)
