This week’s Thursday night matchup certainly has that David vs. Goliath feel to it. The Eagles come into this matchup undefeated and show no signs of slowing down. As for the Texans, they’re still trying to find themselves at 1-5-1 and are in a clear rebuild.

Complicating matters for Houston is the unfolding situation with wide receiver Brandin Cooks. After the Texans failed to trade him away before the deadline, Cooks went to Twitter to voice his frustration, saying Houston had "Crossed the line with playing with my career."

Eagles vs Texans Preview

This game will likely mirror Philly's last game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Although the opposing jersey will look a little different, the result will likely be the same as the Eagles should roll through this Texans team quite easily.

The Eagles draw a slightly easier defense this week as the Texans rank 30th in the NFL for yards allowed per game at 403.6, compared to the 29th-ranked Steelers at 395.1 yards per game.

The Texans have some promising young players like quarterback Davis Mills and cornerback Derek Stingley Jr., but both will have tough tasks Thursday night against this tough Eagles team.

Eagles vs Texans Predictions & TNF Picks Week 9

I’m not one to take a large spread on, but this one just seems necessary. The Texans tried to make some moves at the trade deadline to prepare for their future as they know this team isn’t doing anything this season. The morale is low in the Texans locker room and the tweet from Cooks is only going to cause more problems, and potentially even a locker room divide.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts won’t have any problems in this game and wide receiver A.J. Brown will have another monstrous day as he’ll likely draw rookie cornerback Stingley Jr. The Eagles run game will have zero problems as they draw a Texans defense that ranks dead last in the NFL, allowing 186 yards rushing per game.

On the Texans side, they’ll get a stout Eagles defense that has caused more successful offenses trouble. While I’m a fan of quarterback Mills, I just truly don’t know where wide receiver Brandin Cooks’ head is at. Rookie running back Dameon Pierce has been a breath of fresh air for this offense but will face one of the hardest defenses in the NFL.

The Eagles will control both sides of the football in this game and will have no problems in this matchup. Give me the big spread.

The Pick: Philadelphia Eagles -14 (-110)

The Eagles defense will control this game and their offense won’t be stopped. Do I believe the Eagles can score 40 in this one? Potentially, so 45 as the total here scares me a little bit, especially if we get some garbage time at the end of the game.

With that being said, I still lean the under in this one as I truly think the Texans will struggle against this Eagles defense.

The Pick: Under 45 (-110)

Best Prop Bets for Thursday Night Football – Week 9

A.J. Brown

Downtown to A.J. Brown! Get ready to hear that in this one as he’s going to absolutely have a night on Thursday. He will likely draw rookie cornerback Stingley Jr., who has had a good season but is no match for Brown. The Eagles receiver will have a similar performance to last week in Pittsburgh, and will likely do it in three quarters.

I understand that this game has blowout potential and the Texans defense will give the Eagles run game zero problems, but this prop is really low. Only 68.5 receiving yards?! C’mon man!

The Pick: A.J. Brown over 68.5 receiving yards (-125)
