College Football Bowl season is well and truly underway, and December 30th will feature another five bowl games from around the country. No. 23-ranked NC State will play Maryland in the Duke's Mayo Bowl, while the No. 18-ranked UCLA play Pitt in the Sun Bowl. You then have No. 19 South Carolina against No. 21 Notre Dame in the Gator Bowl, Ohio vs Wyoming in the Arizona Bowl, and the big finale with No. 6-ranked Tennessee facing No. 7-ranked Clemson in the Orange Bowl at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

So, with five games on the slate this coming Friday, these are our favorite games and picks.

North Carolina State vs Maryland - Duke’s Mayo Bowl 2022 Prediction

North Carolina State vs Maryland Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - College Football Bowl Odds

Moneyline: NC State Wolfpack -115, Maryland Terrapins -105

Spread: NC State Wolfpack -1, Maryland Terrapins +1

Total: Over/Under 46.5

North Carolina State vs Maryland Predictions and Pick

NC State lost their starting quarterback Devin Leary to a torn pec in early October. The talented QB is now heading to Kentucky to take over from Will Levis on Mark Stoops's roster. His replacement MJ Morris came in and started for three games before he too got hurt, but the freshman will be good to go against the Wolfpack.

Morris led NC State to back-to-back wins against Virginia Tech and No. 21-ranked Wake Forest, before suffering a 21-20 loss against Boston College. He did not play in the two following games but has been cleared and is 'fully healthy' ahead of the Bowl game in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Wolfpack fans are hoping this game becomes the emergence of their future quarterback, and Morris has it all to prove this time out.

Both teams are missing several players through opt-outs, but the key issue will be Maryland's list of missing wide receivers. Three of the Terrapins wideouts have declared for the draft and will not play in the Bowl game. Former Florida transfer Jacob Copeland, Rakim Jarrett, and senior Dontay Demus Jr. will all be absent, and that might be enough to cause the Terrapins to struggle against NC State.

I feel as though the opt-outs across the board will hinder Maryland more than they will NC State. With the Terrapins being one of the most penalized teams in the country, NC State pick is an easy pick for me. It will most likely feel like a home game for NC State too, as they are playing so close to their own backyard, further adding to the advantage.

The Pick: NC State ML (-115)

UCLA vs Pittsburgh - Sun Bowl 2022 Prediction

UCLA vs Pittsburgh Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - College Football Bowl Odds

Moneyline: UCLA Bruins -215, Pitt Panthers +185

Spread: UCLA Bruins -5.5, Pitt Panthers +5.5

Total: Over/Under 53.5

UCLA vs Pittsburgh Predictions and Pick

The Pitt Panthers finished the season 8-4 and get a shot at the No. 18-ranked UCLA Bruins in the Sun Bowl as a result. They will, however, have to attempt to pull off the upset without quarterback Kedon Slovis, who transferred to BYU earlier this week. Senior Nick Patti is leading the charge to start for the Panthers at QB, but has thrown just 20 passes this season.

Pitt will need to lean on veteran wide receiver Jared Wayne, who notched over 1,000 receiving yards this season. This is more than 500 yards ahead of the team's next-best contributor. While it looks like Wayne is going to play, the Panthers won’t be at full strength and the quarterback situation is a concern against a strong UCLA Bruins team that is likely going to be at close to full strength.

Quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson and running back Zack Charbonnet have been the team's stars during their 9-3 campaign. Both appear to be preparing to play in the game despite heading for the NFL Draft in April. Junior back Keegan Jones might see an increase in snaps at running back if Charbonnet does relax his carries a little ahead of the pre-draft process.

Wide receiver Jake Bobo will also play. Bobo led the team in receiving this season with a 789-yard total and seven receiving touchdowns.

This game doesn't bode well for the Panthers. With multiple starters missing on defense, an almost full-strength Bruins offense will look to capitalize on this. Pitt's starting quarterback has also severely lacked competitive playing time and will struggle to consistently drive on UCLA.

The Pick: UCLA Bruins -5.5 (-110)

South Carolina vs Notre Dame - Gator Bowl 2022 Prediction

South Carolina vs Notre Dame Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - College Football Bowl Odds

Moneyline: South Carolina Gamecocks +120, Notre Dame Fighting Irish -140

Spread: South Carolina Gamecocks +2.5, Notre Dame Fighting Irish -2.5

Total: Over/Under 51.5

South Carolina vs Notre Dame Predictions and Picks

The South Carolina Gamecocks will have some serious momentum going into this Bowl game against the Fighting Irish. The Gamecocks played the villain as the season wore down, with impressive wins against both the Tennessee Volunteers and the Clemson Tigers. The Tennessee dismantling led to the Vols missing out on the College Football Playoff after what had been an impressive season, and Spencer Rattle was phenomenal.

The Gamecocks junior quarterback threw for 438 yards and six touchdowns, completing over 80 per cent of his passes as South Carolina picked apart the Volunteers' defense in a 63-38 statement victory. They followed that up with a close game against Clemson, but once again came out on top, sneaking the win 31-30.

Rattler has looked far improved and Notre Dame might struggle to keep up in the Gator Bowl. Their defense is not good against heavy-passing teams. They struggle to get organized and can be beaten with explosive pass plays. When you then factor in the fact that Notre Dame is reverting to their Week 1 starter in Shane Buchner after Drew Pyne transferred, this one doesn’t line up too well in my eyes for the Irish.

I like the Gamecocks to harness that momentum and win their third consecutive game as the underdog. The line is far closer against the Fighting Irish (+2.5), but the Gamecocks have overcome lines of +23.5 against the Vols and +14 against Clemson in their previous two outings.

The Pick: South Carolina Gamecocks ML (+120)

Tennessee vs Clemson - Citrus Bowl 2022 Prediction

Tennessee vs Clemson Odds, Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under - College Football Bowl Odds

Moneyline: Tennessee Volunteers +180, Clemson Tigers -210

Spread: Tennessee Volunteers +5, Clemson Tigers -5

Total: Over/Under 63.5

Tennessee vs Clemson Predictions and Pick

The final game of the night sees two teams who just missed out on the College Football Playoff (largely thanks to the Gamecocks) now face off in the Citrus Bowl instead.

The Vols will face Clemson without star quarterback Hendon Hooker, who went down late in the season after stunning the world of college football with his exceptional performances throughout the year. Tennessee will instead start senior Joe Milton III, who led the team during their 56-0 drubbing of Vanderbilt. Milton was 11/21 for 147 yards and a touchdown. He is not the same flashy talent that Hendon Hooker provides, and the question is whether he can provide a spark in a big bowl game against a tough opponent.

Clemson will also start a fresh quarterback after finally moving on from DJ Uiagalelei. The former starter was benched during the ACC Championship game and has since transferred to Oregon State. His replacement is Cade Klubnik, a freshman who came into the ACC Championship game and led his team to a comfortable 39-10 win.

Klubnik completed 20/24 passes for 279 yards and a touchdown, and will now get his first career start in Miami.

Tennessee will be without leading wideout and Biletnikoff award winner Jalin Hyatt, who contributed 1,267 yards and 15 receiving touchdowns this season. The junior wide receiver opted out of the game and will be the most notable absence for either team, while Tennessee will also be without wideout Cedric Tillman, who was big for the team in 2021 but missed a lot of time with injuries in 2022.

It might be Cade Klubnik's first start, but Clemson are still the favorite for the game, and I tend to agree with the oddsmakers on this one. The Vols haven't been the same without Hendon Hooker, and his absence is enough for me to pick the freshman-led Clemson Tigers in this one.

The Pick: Clemson Tigers -5 (-105)
