Two winners and two losers from earlier this week are on the court tonight on the final day of the NBA play-in tournament, and the lucky pair that emerge will be rewarded with matchups against the top-seeded Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat. Some reward, eh?

The No. 8 seeds in each conference will be determined, and it’ll either be the Cleveland Cavaliers or the Atlanta Hawks in the East and the New Orleans Pelicans or the Los Angeles Clippers in the West. Two of those four teams have recent playoff experience. Two do not. Will that matter?

Let’s get right to it, because today is payday for many of us, and we want that money to grow by Saturday morning, correct?

Here we go…

Atlanta (-2) at Cleveland: The Cavs have been running in mud ever since Jarrett Allen, who was an All-Star for the first time at age 23, went down with a broken middle finger. That was six weeks ago, and Allen has been upgraded to questionable for tonight. When Allen went down on March 6, the Cavs were 37-27. They finished the regular season 44-38 and then lost to the Brooklyn Nets in the 7-vs-8 game 115-108 earlier this week. They ran into an especially hot Kyrie Irving in that game, and tonight the main guy they will try to focus on stopping is Trae Young, who may want to pull off that villain thing he does so well on the road.

Young scored 24 and 35 points in his two road games at Cleveland this season, and the latter game also featured a 23-rebound performance by center Clint Capela despite playing against Allen before he was hurt. That game was the more recent of the two, and Cleveland blew a 16-point lead as coach J.B. Bickerstaff said his team got "complacent". The teams also played twice in Atlanta, the Hawks winning by 8 and 24 as Young scored 41 and 30. That 3-1 season series advantage is the primary reason why the Hawks are favored on the road, a situation in which they went 8-9-0 against the spread during the regular season. The Cavs were 9-5-1 ATS as a home underdog, which augers well for tonight, if they can contain Young, who sort of thrives at this time of year as you may have noticed.

Young went for 24 points and 11 assists against Charlotte in the 7-8 game but shot just 1-for-7 from 3-point range and 8-for-24 overall. The last time he had a game like that from long range was an 0-for-6 performance against Charlotte back on March 16, and he came back in the next game and went 3-for5 from distance against New Orleans. He also had a bounce back 7-for-10 game from distance against Indiana on March 13 after going 1-for-4 the previous game against the Clippers, and a 2-for-7 shooting night against Boston was followed by a 7-for-9 game at Chicago. So, yeah, the guy bounces back. Does that mean he will go over his made 3-pointers over/under of 3.5? That is a tough call, and the advice here is to stay away from that one. Instead, look for DeAndre Hunter and Bogdan Bogdanovic to be the primary second scorers against the Cavs, and we like Hunter to go over 14.5 points (-105, 3.5 rebounds (-115) and 1.5 3-pointers mads (+125).

Kevin Love will be a crucial component for the Cavs tonight but does not have a point total line posted. Darius Garland and Evan Mobley figure to be the two main offensive components for the Cavs among the starting five, and Mobley will especially be on the spot because he was a top contender for Rookie of the Year. Coming off a 19-point, seven-rebound performance against the Hornets, we expect him to go over 15.5 points (-125). The over/under is a relatively small 223, which is surprising given that the teams combined for 241, 240 and 238 the last three times they played. So take the over (-110), and then get ready for…

New Orleans (+4) at L.A. Clippers: The Pels went 3-1 against the Clips, but three of those games came before the acquisition of C.J. McCollum, whose 32 points and seven assists led the way in the Pels’ 113-103 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday night. Brandon Ingram added 27 points on 11-of-19 shooting in that game, and the one-two punch of McCollum and Ingram should be enough to get the W so long as Jonas Valanciunas can replicate some semblance of the performances he had in the Pels’ first two games against the Clippers when he had 26 and then 39 points against Ivica Zubac. Take the Pels and the points (-110) in this one, and we also like McCollum to go over 25.5 (+100) in another big game.

Of course, the Pels are going to have to find someone to try to defend Paul George, who is back and looking terrific, scoring 34 in 41 minutes in the five-point loss to the Timberwolves that relegated the Clips to this do-or-die matchup. This one figures to be a nail biter right down to the finish. The player props you should parlay are George over 40.5 combined points, assists and rebounds (-110), Reggie Jackson under 4.5 assists (+100), Valanciunas over 12.5 rebounds (-135) and McCollum over 5.5 assists (+125). The over/under is a mere 216, which should fall around the midpoint of the fourth quarter with the veterans on both teams rising to the occasion and knocking down shots. So add the over (-110) to your parlay, too.

We never like to predict which should be the better of the two games, and tonight we may have a draw. And that is a very good thing for NBA fans on the final night before the playoffs officially begin. Good luck!
